Two weeks ago I wrote a pre-valentines guide for an outdoors fun day/date which I hope many of you used to plan out this upcoming Saturday with your significant others. But what about those who procrastinate out there that may have loved the idea but are having a hard time putting it all together??????
Well as luck would have it I was forwarded an email about the JUSTicia RUN which you may imagine my joy when reading happens to be this upcoming Saturday morning………Valentines Day!

Now I know pulling your loved one out of bed for the drive to the San Joaquin College of Law to register at 6:45 am start may be a challenge. Plan to combat the morning grumpiness with coffee or something of the like to tempt them out of bed and into some running shoes, they will thank you for it, trust me. My wife many times has had to pry me away from my pillow and once past my moans and groans I’ve always found it worth it so be proactive and persistent in your prodding because the fun to be had is worth it.
Once you have the caffeine working and arrive you will find that Sierra Challenge Express has for the 14th year, on the 14th which I like, set up several challenges for you from walking to running races and for the theatrical out there a costume contest. Every year they have seemed to outdo themselves and the expectation is this year will be another great turnout to support the Clovis Police Foundation, Sierra Challenge Express Running Club and the San Joaquin College of Law Student Bar Association.
Racing starts at 8am with a quarter-mile kids race so there is no reason not to turn this into a family adventure. For the those looking to gain runner of the year points there is a 5k run or for people like me who enjoy a more casual pace there is a 2 mile walk/run to help build my morning appetite for the breakfast that follows.
Not into running or even walking but your loved ones enjoy that kind of thing?
The solution to that is volunteer!
Talk about killing two birds with one stone. You get to hang out with your loved one, help a good cause and have a ton of fun…so I guess that’s 3 birds. Here is a link to see what positions are still available: LINK
Call me a helper…or cupid for that matter but the idea of people outside enjoying Valentines day together makes me smile every time I think about all the different ways to play with our loved ones in the outdoors.
Hope to see you outside soon.
