Hello FresYes! I have just been assigned with the privilege of blogging about everything “Fitness” that is going on in Fresno (yay) and let me you: THERE IS A LOT!
I moved to Fresno a couple of years ago from San Diego and when I got here, I was really concerned about finding a fitness culture that would allow me to not only continue to get my workouts on, but also, to find like-minded people who like me, enjoy getting their booties kicked (yeah, just for fun!) and who see their fitness activities as an opportunity to socialize and make friends. When I first relocated here, I was also concerned with the variety of workouts available (I have fitness ADD and get bored really easily) but fortunately, there is no lack of fitness diversity in the Valley! From CrossFit, to Zumba, to MMA to Aero Yoga and Ninja Warrior type workouts, you can find it all here!
These past two years living in the area, I’ve had the opportunity to try Swim clubs, TRX, Tennis and Pilates classes, Bootcamps, numerous WOD’s…and in the process I’ve meet some awesome, awesome, AWESOME people.
The best thing about Fresno Fitness, is that you don’t have to be a workout freak like me to get your sweat on, because there is something for everybody and for every budget. There are tons free workout groups, stadiums with a track and LOTS of stairs, hiking trails and parks….plus the weather is peeeeerrrrrrrfect…for the most part! You will also find a ton of local races (both fun and competitive) and fitness related events every single month, so if all you want to do is to go watch people struggling (or kicking butt), you can do that too!
I am really excited to write about my local fitness findings and share them with all of you! However, as a side note, I would like add a small disclaimer to this post: I am by no means a fitness expert, so I can’t really advice anyone on what kind of workout they should be doing or how intense they need to go to achieve their goals. What I can do, is to be sort of a guinea pig, try out what is out there and then tell you about it 😀 (ohhh the sacrifice ;)……besides that, here are the things that qualify me to write this Fresno fitness blog:
1) I have absolutely no shame and I will have fun trying any kind of workout even if I look stupid: Like the time my friend and I tried Parkour with a bunch of fearless 12 year olds who kept giving us sorry looks.
2) I am a decent enough writer: One time I won a trip to Rio because I wrote a very convincing essay on the reasons I deserved to win a trip to Rio 😀
3) I LOVE TO WORKOUT and I love hanging out with people who love to workout too!
This is going to be fun…for me for sure, hope that you enjoy it too!

You go girl!!!! I want to plan some sort of Family oriented bike ride (Think “Pedal Merced” like) for Fresno/Clovis. Something casual/slow but also an all day event. I have ideas but don’t know where to start?!?!? I just know we NEED to get these video game controllers out of these kids hands for a bit.
THAT is such a great idea! When I lived in San Diego we used to go on a Taco Tuesday Family ride every week. It was slow and we rode for a while till we reached our taco destination 🙂 I miss being a part of that! There are a couple of cool non competitive bike riding groups in Fresno. Maybe you can start by contacting some of them:
– //www.facebook.com/SunnysideBicycles
– https://www.facebook.com/fresnobikehop/
– https://www.facebook.com/criticalmassfresnoca/
You can also maybe start a meetup.com
Sounds like a great idea. Let me know if you would like help. I would love to be a part of something like this 🙂

I’m sorry I used this E-mail acct. that I (OBVIOUSLY) don’t check often enough. I would welcome any and ALL help, as I have zero experience in these things. Let’s do it this spring when the weather is perfect.
Sounds good, I am game to help anyway I can!
