Fresno has a new pizza place! Blaze Pizza just opened over by Fashion Fair Mall and they invited me in to try it. They focus on fresh ingredients and hand crafted food. Their main focus is pizza, as you may have guessed. They create individual pizzas that are about 8 inches. Each pizza is individually made and is cooked in a pizza oven in only 180 seconds (a little longer for gluten free). And the food is so good!!!
Blaze is a chain that was started in Irvine, California back in 2012 and is based out of Pasadena, California. They have a corporate culture that focuses on fresh food and being eco-conscious. I find it so interesting that while most of their produce is ordered from a standard supplier, all their tomatoes come straight from their own corporate farm. Their dough is made in store every day and ferments for 24 hours before it is used. And the salads and s’mores are also made everyday. The lemonades are even made in house! Blaze Pizza is allergen sensitive! They have both gluten free crust and vegan cheese! They are also equally eco-conscious. All of the paper goods are recycled. And when they do have to have virgin supplies, they plant 2 trees for every one that is cut!
Community… this site is nothing if not focused on Fresno. So why is this so good for us? Well, business generated taxes and all that but there is more than that. This store is a franchise that is owned locally. Damn Fine Pizza also owns a Blaze Pizza in Tulare. So when support them, you are supporting local business owners. This location hired 50 employees, including the manager who is a Fresno State graduate. They also will work with local groups to do fundraisers. The groups can get about 20% of the money spent! I think I might be mentioning this to a few groups I do stuff with;).
Food: No matter how great and lofty everything else sounds it all comes down to the food. Yum. I got the White Top Pizza on a gluten free crust. This is a white cream sauce pizza with mozzarella, bacon, and garlic. They finished off with some pepper and sea salt. It was so good! It was good to the point that when I shared with all my gluten eating kids, they loved it!!! I also got one of their homemade s’mores. So good. If you like s’mores you will love this. It is made in house with Hershey’s chocolate and they warmed it. I shared with the kids only because I felts too guilty keeping it all to myself. And I finished it off with the house made Blood Orange Lemonade. It was sweet with a perfect lemony acid. Now I am hungry again. But that is ok because….
FREE PIZZA
Something Blaze does to celebrate a new location is have a Free Pizza Day and Friday September 11th is that day Fresno! And I really mean free. The record is 3,000 free pizzas given out on one of these days and the Fresno location wants to beat it! And this isn’t one of those 1 free per family or per adult deals either. It is 1 free per person, including the kids! They just have to be big enough to stand in line. So I know I will be going in with the whole family!
But just in case you can’t make Free Pizza Day or you do and want more free pizza.. We have a give away for 2 free pizza coupons! Just pop into the Rafflecopter and enter!
