Dina Juve isn’t sure where the title “Kettlebell Queen” came from, but she likes it. After all, it’s an accurate moniker for the 41-year-old fitness expert, and longtime champion of the kettlebell, based in Fresno. Still, there’s another title Juve would like to have: The Next Fitness Star. And she could very well get it. Juve is one of five finalists in Women’s Health magazine’s competition to find the next “face of fitness.”
Juve’s fitness journey spans 20 years, going from Tae Bo videos in her living room to co-owning a gym, Fitness Social, here in Fresno. And there are a lot of impressive numbers in between: 80 pounds lost, 13 years in the fitness industry, 4 pregnancies, and about a dozen certifications and specialties earned. When Juve decided at 21 to get in shape and stop being a victim to several illnesses she was told would always hold her back, there was no way of knowing her path to personal health would take her as far as it has.
But there’s still so much farther to go. And becoming the Next Fitness Star may be the next step in Juve’s journey. You can help her get there by voting here. The winner of the competition will have her own fitness DVD and the opportunity to help others get fit. If she wins, Juve hopes to use the platform to inspire men and women who may be struggling with some of the same issues that initially held her back.
Here, Juve talks about her personal path to health, turning her passion for fitness into a business, and how she almost missed the chance to enter the Next Fitness Star competition.
