Taking care of your body correctly can be a daunting task, am I right? Many times you find yourself asking, “Where do I even begin?” You need a one-stop body shop—aka The Body Building in Clovis.
Starting from square one can be a bit much to handle all at once, but The Body Building has the team and equipment in place to help you do so. They really simplify the process by keeping everything under one roof, which to me is a major bonus.
For example, if you have previous injuries/ailments that require chiropractic care, like a bad knee or shoulder that hampers your ability to work out, the in-house doctor can provide care services before a workout, saving you from driving around town from appointment to appointment. Cool, right?
Recently, the FresYes team was invited to The Body Building for some cryotherapy, and the facility did not disappoint. I’m not sure about you, but I had never heard of cryotherapy let alone taken part in it, so I was excited. Mostly because I found out you can burn up to 800 calories in just three minutes in the cryo chamber. (Bet I have your attention now! More on this in a second.)
Our visit to the facility went fantastic. You can instantly feel the positive energy walking into the building, where you’ll be greeted by Body Building owner Kasey, his managing partner David, or co-owner Amanda. The facility is very clean, well kept, and smells nice, which is something I’m sure we can all appreciate (I don’t know how many gyms I have been to that smell like a bag of old gym socks… every day).
Kasey and his team took great care of us while we were there, walking us through all they have to offer. With a full gym, studio room, massage/chiropractic room (and licensed doctor), sauna, cryo chamber, juice bar, and oxygen bar, no body ailment shall go untreated and no exercise is out of the facility’s reach. No matter your body type/condition, they can provide you with the treatment, plan, knowledge, and push you need to reach your body’s maximum potential and optimal size.
Let me break down The Body Building by each type of package they offer. I know you’re still thinking about those 800 calories I burned in three minutes, so let’s start there.
Cryotherapy
Breakdown: Cryotherapy is basically your new-age ice bath. Instead of soaking in a tub of freezing cold ice water for countless minutes or even hours, the Cryo Chamber takes just three minutes from start to finish, and uses nitrogen gas instead of water for a faster and more effective result. First, you’ll strip down to your undergarments, then you’ll step into the chamber itself.
Once you’re in, the tank of nitrogen gas is turned on and begins to fill the chamber. Within seconds, you’re surrounded by a brisk foggy mist that ranges in temperature from -50 to -150 degrees. That may seem a bit intense, but let me tell you from personal experience it is quite refreshing and feels much better than an ice bath. I was only in there for about three minutes, but walking out I felt like a million bucks and a few hundred calories lighter. Your body burns these calories by trying to keep itself warm. The harder your body has to work to achieve this, the more calories you burn.
Benefits/When To Use: There are tons of benefits to Cryotherapy. They consist of quicker recovery of the muscles and joints, anti-aging, weight loss, and overall pain management. There really is never a bad time to hit the cryo chamber—before a workout, after a workout, when you wake up, etc. I think you get the point. Whenever you can find the time do it, do it. Your body will thank you later.
Oxygen Bar
Breakdown: The oxygen bar is one of the hottest and newest trends in personal recovery, so you know you can find it at The Body Building. After just one fifteen-minute session, you’ll be able to feel the difference. On any given breath in the Valley, you are receiving less than 30% oxygen. Each inhale from the oxygen bar, however, provides you with up to 95% oxygen. Take it from someone with a chronic history of asthma, it was really a great feeling.
Benefits/When To Use: Oxygen treatments can greatly help counter fatigue. They are also great for treating headaches, pre-athletic performance, and flushing excess toxins and impurities from your blood. These treatments are ideal before or after any type of physical exertion, as well as after a night of drinking.
Infrared Sauna & Chromotherapy
Breakdown: The infrared sauna and chromotherapy looks like a sauna from the future. The process is similar to that of a regular sauna, but the results are much more effective. The infrared sauna produces rays that your body needs to heal, similar to those of the sun. Different lights are used to target different ailments your body may feel. For example, red chromotherapy is called “The Great Energizer” because it loosens and releases stiffness/constrictions from the body, whereas yellow chromotherapy helps awaken mental inspiration and is great for nerve-related conditions. Benefits/When To Use: The overall benefits of using light therapy are the reduction of swelling, relief of pain, decrease of inflammation, revitalization of the skin, and the acceleration of open wound healing.
Juice Bar
Breakdown: The Body Building offers made-to-order cold pressed, unpasteurized, organic juice cleanses. They have two options: a three-day cleanse program and a five-day cleanse program. Kasey and David walk each customer through the process of juicing, the bonus being that you won’t have to cook for 3-5 days. Sounds like a win to me!
Benefits/When To Use: Juicing can completely cleanse the body of toxins and extra waste it has been holding onto. This is great coming back from a vacation or really any time you just feel bogged down and behind the ball. After your cleanse, you feel revitalized and refocused.
