1. Geek Night: Creative Fresno
Creative Fresno will host Geek Night at Bitwise South Stadium tonight from 5-7 p.m. There will be Post-it Murals, a Face of Fresno area where you make faces out of basic shapes, the Creativity Quote wall that lets you take inspiration with you, and a Creativity Contest, plus free beer, drinks, and food. 2. Fresno Poets’ Association Reading: Andrea Jurjevíc
The Master of Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing at Fresno State will present an evening with author and winner of the 2015 Philip Levine Prize for Poetry, Andrea Jurjević, as part of the Fresno Poets’ Association reading series. This free event will take place from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the Alice Peters Auditorium. [Details]
3. Fresno High February Flea: Handmade Hearts
With Valentine’s Day shopping on the horizon, a trip to the Fresno Flea seems like a no-brainer. Look for jewelry, accessories, soaps, art, and handmade and special vintage items, plus baked goods and food trucks. Fresno High School, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. [Details]
4. Crafting with Craft Beer
Make one of four Valentine’s-themed crafts while you enjoy some craft beer at this family-friendly event. Cost is $35. Crafting will take place from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Full Circle Brewing Co. in Fresno. [Details]
5. Wizard Kickball
Equality Kickball will host a wizard-themed kickball event from 1-6 p.m. Saturday at Lafayette Park in Fresno. From the event page: “The Wicked Witch challenges Merlin to a magic test of wizard’s staff so bring plenty of beers and tape. Don your best robes and don’t forget your wands!” [Details]
6. Ag Fest
The Fresno State Men’s Basketball Team takes on Mountain West rivals San Diego State Saturday at 4 p.m. Adding to the fun is the annual ode to all things agriculture, Ag Fest. Read all about Ag Fest here, and don’t forget to wear your boots. [Details]
7. Café Scientifique: Antibody Immunotherapy
Support science at this monthly gathering of the Central Valley Café Scientifique. Dr. Cory Brooks, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, will be discussing advances in the field of antibodies as disease therapy from 7-8 p.m. Monday at 3110 N. Maroa Ave. in Fresno. [Details]
8. Savage Cinema Club: “Cool as Ice”
Enjoy live, apparently savage commentary from local comedians as you watch this 1991 classic starring Vanilla Ice. Movie starts at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Full Circle Brewing Co. in Fresno. [Details]
9. FAB Karaoke
Wednesday night is drag karaoke night at FAB Fresno in the Tower District. Put on your finest, warm up those pipes, and sing your heart out from 8-11 p.m. [Details]
10. “Journalism, Fake News and The First Amendment”
This free panel discussion will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. at Fresno State and will feature Jim Boren, executive editor of The Fresno Bee, Joe Moore, director of program content for Valley Public Radio, and Faith Sidlow and Jed Therkelsen, assistant professors in the Fresno State Department of Media, Communications and Journalism.
