I wish I could say that I love coffee, because then I wouldn’t have to search for fancy tea shops, I’d be happy with the local Starbucks. However, I do not like coffee. Well, I do like the smell of it, but that’s about it. I like to think that my ancestors were fancy, pinky sticking out tea drinkers, which is where I get my love for tea. Although, I’m pretty sure that’s not the case. I think my ancestors drank tequila. 😉
Anyway, a while back I wrote about one of my favorite tea shops. The nice thing about Fresno is that we don’t just have one of something, and this happens to be the case with finding places to drink tea.
Just recently I found a new place called Raizana Tea Company. (Find Raizana Tea on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.)Â They are downtown, at 2011 Tuolumne St, by Warnors Theatre, across from the Fulton Mall. Raizana is in the same space as where the wonderful Twee use to be.
I went in on a peaceful Monday afternoon. There was a nice young lady (Jem) working behind the counter. She was super helpful, telling me all about the teas. I told her what I liked, and she gave me suggestions. She told me she could make it however I wanted it. While she was making my drink, she was chatting with me about some of her musical performances. She was so nice and friendly. I felt very welcomed there.
There are not many tables to sit and hang out, but I wonder if there will be in the future. They have a lot of space where they could make that happen. So, I wouldn’t necessarily make this a hang out spot, BUT I could totally make it a frequent lunch spot. The nice thing about being downtown is that you can visit multiple locations to get just what you’re looking for. Stop off for a tea to go with your sandwich. I didn’t have to wait for a long time. Maybe 3 minutes, if that. (Oh, and before I forget, since Raizana is downtown, there is meter parking outside. Don’t worry, though, I’m sure .10 cents is all you’d need!)
The Menu

I wasn’t aware at first, but Raizana specializes in herbal wellness teas. They are nature’s natural remedies. These teas are listed on the right, in blue. I really love using tea to heal our bodies. Healing + yummy-ness = perfection. If you’d like to read more about the healing effects of Raizana’s teas, check out their about page on the website. I’m totally converted.

I ended up getting the Dulce de Pina Rooibos.
I occasionally like cream in my tea, so she added that for me. The drink was very nice. Mild, yet full of flavor. It’s hard for me to sometimes describe the flavor of Rooibos. To me it has a lavendar/vanilla taste to it. I got my drink iced, but you can have it hot if you wanted. I can’t wait for winter to try some of these hot! (We will have a winter, right?)
If you find a tea you like, you can always buy a bag of it, as they sell the product right there in the store (as well as online). Then you can experiment at home with all sorts of add ins! 🙂
You can also get your favorite healthy tea, which are in the black bags. I want to try the Ladies TLC.
So, the next time you’re downtown, stop on it and try Raizana Tea. While you’re there, make a connection with the person making your tea. Hopefully that person is Jem, you’ll just love her!
