Hi, my name is Tiffiny, and I love tea.
In the winter time I love my piping hot black tea, without sugar. In the summer, I love my iced tea. In my house you will find 2 tea pots, but not a coffee pot. I don’t even know how to make coffee. (I know, I know, un-American. But I’ve never seen any Star Wars movies, and I don’t like Oreos, so not knowing how to make coffee makes me seem normal.) When someone loves tea as much as I do, just imagine how much I would love a whole store filled with tea-it would be heavenly.
That’s what Teazer World Tea Market is like for me – heaven. I first discovered Teazer’s about 8 years ago. Until then, I was spending lots and lots of money at Starbucks, drinking tea. (I spend way more money at Starbucks, than any non-coffee drinker should.) Back when I was in the credential program, there was a classmate who came to class with a tea that had pieces of fruit mixed in. That’s when I first learned about Teazer’s. I was super curious and I knew I had to hunt this place down. 😉 So, one day I was in the Tower District and I just happened to stumble upon the magical place that is Teazer’s. The moment I walked in, I loved it.
The menu at Teazer’s is like a menu you’d see at a restaurant. They have green tea, fruit tea, black tea, herbal tea, chai tea, white tea, oolong tea and probably other types that I don’t know about. It’s like the Bubba Gump of teas. My favorite is the black chocolate tea-with the works. The “works” would include cream, honey and chocolate. This is what it looks like, and let me tell you, it takes just like chocolate milk, but with caffeine. For reals.

This is another version of the same drink, but they added a little extra love for me.
After my first drink of chocolate heaven, I was hooked. I went back time and time again. I have a few favorites, most of them with cream, but the other day I tried a fruit tea. I’m not usually a fruit tea drinker. I’ve tried them over the years, and just don’t love them, but I really wanted something light and refreshing. As I was mulling over the menu, the gentleman (or tea maker as he shall forever be called) gave me a suggestion based on what I told him I liked. He suggested I try the strawberry kiwi.
Guess what? He was right. It was sweet, refreshing, light, and tasted a bit like summer.
Now, remember, Teazer’s is a local establishment. The owners are Fresnans. When you enter a Teazer World Tea Market, you don’t get a run of the mill average person working behind the counter. You get someone who knows their stuff about tea. You get a tea maker. So, instead of getting your tea from Starbucks, stop off at any one of the four locations around town. The original Teazer’s is in the Tower District, on the corner of Olive and Lucerne (across from Piemonte’s). There is another location, downtown, on 2405 Capitol Street. The third location is in Riverpark. They are around the corner from H&M, where Jamba Juice use to be ages ago. The newest location is right by my house!!! I was sooo happy to see them start to build. Their new location is in the Target shopping center on Shaw and Marks. Its entrance faces the back of Texas Roadhouse.
So, if you like tea, put your money into a locally owned business. Go in and try something new. I guarantee you’ll feel happy when you leave.
