The Schoolhouse Restaurant
Are you looking for a place to do some celebrating? Whether it’s to ring in the New Year or to celebrate a milestone how about swinging by the Schoolhouse Restaurant in Sanger?
If you haven’t been to the Schoolhouse Restaurant, it’s located in Sanger at the corner of Kings Canyon Rd. & S. Frankwood Ave. Open Wednesday thru Sunday, they are having a special celebration for New Year’s and there’s still time to get your reservation in! The menu is posted online and is full of seafood, filet’s, meatloaf and more – I’m sure you’ll find something delicious for everyone!
The Schoolhouse has quite the history. It was originally built in 1890 as a wooden schoolhouse. In 1921 replaced by the brick structure you see today. You can read more about their history here.
We stopped by recently to celebrate my Mother-in-Law’s 82nd birthday and boy did we have fun!
We made reservations just to be sure. When we entered the restaurant I slipped the hostess some fun decorations for the table they set up while we wandered down the hallway.

The hallway is full of pictures of days gone by, old schoolhouse desks and a drinking fountain that I confess looked pretty similar to what I had in grade school way back when! 😀

When dinner came we enjoyed our meal. One of us had a meatloaf sandwich.

Another, Chicken Pot Pie (which is one of their specialties), YUM!
And a delicious bowl of soup for me!
And the birthday girl enjoyed a beverage too! We had great service and our meal ended with a birthday treat and song for the birthday girl!
It is a pricier restaurant with a casual dining atmosphere. If you don’t want to have a sit down meal, you can also swing by the bar. Fully equipped and super fun, the bar offers a fun tavern-style menu with loads of great options, including appetizers, pizzas and more!
The Schoolhouse Restaurant is located at 1018 S Frankwood Ave Reedley, CA 93657 Open Wednesday – Sunday hours vary. (559) 787-3271
