Today, I want to share a couple of local ingredients that make the perfect combo.
The first is Meyer lemons. Lemons are everywhere right now. There’s probably a free bag by the water cooler at your work—seriously we all have bags and bags. Last week, we were out at my mother-in-law’s house and picked about 60 pounds of lemons… ahhh!
The other is Corbin Vodka, locally grown in Atwater, CA, and a unique vodka you need to try (click here to find it at a location near you). Corbin Vodka is so unique because it’s made with sweet potatoes. My husband, who is a vodka connoisseur (me, I’m more of a common-sewer), says Corbin grabs your attention up front but goes down smoothly and doesn’t need a chaser. Corbin is pricier than some vodkas, but in our opinion, it’s totally worth it.
Corbin also mixes beautifully, as you’ll see below!

The key to a good Lemon Drop Martini is to get it really cold. That happens when you shake it hard and probably longer than you think you need to.

So, when you pour it into the glass after all that shaking, it gets an icy film on top—YUM. Love that sweet-tart flavor of a lemon drop martini!

- 3 parts Corbin Vodka
- 1 1/2 parts simple syrup*
- 1 1/2 parts fresh Meyer lemon juice
- Combine vodka, simple sugar and lemon juice in a martini shaker (or mason jar will work in a pinch!)
- Fill with ice and shake until frothy (about 10-15 good shakes).
- That’s it, serve in a chilled glass. Cheers!
Another favorite use of lemons for me is in Creamy Lemon Pasta, a recipe I shared last year with FresYes. What’s your favorite way to enjoy lemons? Let me know in the comments!
*Simple sugar is easily made. Combine equal parts sugar and water in a pan on the stove. Bring to a bubble and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Chill until ready to use, preferably in a Corbin Vodka Lemon Drop Martini!
