So far we’ve had 6 weeks of contests, several hundred pictures submitted, and a few thousand LIKES. For all of that, we thank you!
Along the way I’ve noticed a few things I thought I would share with you.
We’ve had some truly fantastic photos submitted everything from flowers, to vegetables, to kids, to vacation photos. I’ve been watching the pattern of winners and can share with you the secret to winning.
Here’s our winners so far…
Remember the Rules? At the end of the week the one with the most ‘LIKES’ wins a $25 gift certificate. Seems pretty easy right?
Do you know what their secret is?
Each and every one of them “Shared” the picture with their friends on Facebook and then urged their Friends, Family and Coworkers to LIKE their picture and SHARE it too. That’s it. You don’t need to have a fancy camera, you just need to network a little.
You can harness the exponential power of social media.
MATH
The average person has 135 friends on Facebook. That doesn’t sound like much (yet).
You’ll never get all of your friends to LIKE the picture but let’s say you get just 1/4th of them to LIKE your picture?
That’s worth around 34 LIKES – still not nearly enough to hope to win.
Now, if you were to get those 34 people to also SHARE your picture the math changes.
34 x 135 = 4,590!
Of course, expecting all 135 people to like something is unrealistic but if just1/4th of those liked it…
34 x 34 = 1,156!
See how this has the power to build? Is that enough? So far our highest voted picture only received a few hundred LIKES.
