Tesoro Viejo Sustainability
Tesoro Viejo believes in Sustainability.
It plans to protect 200 acres of natural gorges, open space, and riparian habitat. These include grasslands, wetlands, arroyos, and riparian corridors. All these areas provide a habitat for conserving water resources and wildlife.
Every village designed to showcase open spaces, preserve community trails and become a buffer between the community and protected natural areas.
Tesoro Viejo works with the Sierra Foothill Conservancy, a local Land Trust, to protect wildlife space. It also protects and provides 415 acres of contained habitat for State and Federal listed threatened species, the California Tiger Salamander.
Tesoro Viejo also implements Design, Planning, and Building practices emphasizing conservation and sustainability of all projects. These include:
Solar energy for all homes;
Natural gas for the community;
Water conservation with using reclaimed water; and
Lots of mature trees: Ten years before construction began 10,000 trees of 13 native California species planted in 2008 now matured.
San Joaquin River Stewardship
Tesoro Viejo also works with state and local agencies to construct and protect public access to the beautiful nearby San Joaquin River.
These improvements include canoeing, hiking, and kayaking on or around the river. Each home sale in Tesoro Viejo transfers funds to operate and maintain the open spaces and trails to and along the river.
Sufficient Water Supply
The Tesoro Viejo Master Mutual Water Company (TVMMWC) provides clean water for the entire community. It built and maintains its own water treatment plant, treatment of wastewater, and own distribution facility operated by the California Water Service (Cal Water).
Cal Water serving California since 1926. It operates and maintains the freshwater, recycled water, wastewater, storm waters, and agricultural system for the TVMMWC.
Cal Water also provides customer services for Tesoro Viejo’s water utilities and provides online bill paying.
