I know that the staff and agents at FresYes Realty and the writers at FresYes.com are all really special, and I think it’s time you know that, too. That’s why I like to shine a light on them from time to time, so you can see what I see.
Today I’m focusing on my friend Natali Carrera, who’s been with FresYes.com for as long as I can remember! Everyone, get to know Natali.
Natali Carrera
Grew up in: Fresno
Attended school at: Central High School, Fresno City, Fresno State
Family: Husband Brandon, son Keegan, 2 dogs, Rocco and Rusty
What I like about Fresno: I love the people, the wide variety of delicious foods and restaurants influenced by all regions of the world, the fresh produce (especially the peaches and the strawberries!) and the opportunities afforded by living in a place with both urban and rural areas to explore, a relatively low cost of living and an abundance of fun things to do.
Favorite story I’ve written: 3 Amazing Hiking Trails You’ll Want to Enjoy this Spring. I like this article because hiking was really new to our family, and I wanted to come at the article in such a way that other readers who’d never hiked before would not only see why we were finding it so enjoyable, and be (hopefully!) inspired to do it themselves, but to also have the information they’d need as brand new hikers to enjoy their experience. Many websites about trails and hiking are written assuming you know a LOT about hiking and backpacking—I wanted to make this experience feel very approachable and I really took my time with the article, adding details I thought would help.
What FresYes means to me: When you say FresYES it means you have made the choice to see Fresno for all that is good here, to have a positive attitude towards our city, and to contribute toward making things that do need improvement better, rather than just complaining about them. No city is perfect, but there’s a LOT to love about Fresno when you’re willing to look up and take it all in!
Favorite Fresno landmark: The Fresno City College Old Administration Building
Favorite place to get a drink in Fresno area: My husband and I like to grab a drink and enjoy happy hour appetizers in the relaxing patio area at Piazza del Pane at Palm and Herndon. We have a favorite server there who works on Saturdays, so if we don’t have any other obligations, we’re pretty much always there Saturday nights. Love their crispy brie on crostini with balsamic glaze and fresh strawberries. Mmm…
Favorite Fresno food destination: Well ^^ guess I kind of blew this question, but I’d say our other favorite is Gem of Thailand on Herndon and Blackstone. So tasty, family-owned, super nice people, amazing food!
Favorite thing to do on the weekend: Get up early and ride bikes to get a crepe at Le Parisian, take a long walk in the neighborhood, around Tenaya Park and end with a donut from Judy’s, go on a day hike, or hit up the Vineyard Farmer’s Market. Yeah, I like food I guess, so I also have to like doing active things. ????
Favorite non-Fresno destination: Manhattan Beach, CA, followed closely by Coronado Island.
Cake or pie: Neither. Donuts. Maple Bars, specifically. With one exception… Costco apple pie. (The best.)
More about me: I’m the Director of Education Services at ValleyPBS, and I love working with families, kids and educators. I’m also a devoted coffee addict who loves bargain hunting at Target, and a lifelong Fresno resident and Fresno State grad.
