Beauty lovers rejoice – there is exciting movement in the retail cosmetics world for Fresno residents!
First of all, as reported by The Fresno Bee, Fresno is about to welcome a third Ulta store in the former Urban Outfitters location in Fashion Fair Mall (there’s a neighboring store in Clovis as well).
Additionally, Fresno was also selected to house Ulta’s new 670,500-square-foot warehouse and distribution center, which will be built on East and Central avenues in south Fresno. The distribution center is expected to bring as many as 1,000 new jobs to the Valley and it will be Ulta’s 6th center of its kind and the only one in California (Ulta online shoppers, hopefully this will mean faster shipping times for us locals!).
Some may wonder, “Is it good to have Ulta coming in right by Sephora?” in regards to the Fashion Fair store choice and, as a cosmetics lover and enthusiast, I say, “Yes!” Though Sephora and Ulta both carry high-end cosmetics, there are many brands between the stores that do not overlap, and beauty addicts often go to the stores hunting for very specific items knowing exactly which store will carry them.
Having Ulta and Sephora near one another will make for more convenient shopping for makeup junkies like myself, seeing as we’ll likely be able to find all the brands we’re looking for (including more affordable “drugstore” lines thanks to Ulta’s wide selection) while only having to park once.
A Fave Beauty Store in a New Location
If I’ve managed to convince you that being able to access the full buffet of top beauty brands in one area is a total advantage, you’re going to love the news I have for you next.
I’d recently heard rumors, rather reliable ones, that Sephora was making a move to open a second Fresno location (third if you count the location within JC Penney in Fashion Fair) in the old Ann Taylor store in River Park, and yesterday, I was able to get that news officially confirmed with River Park management, and cleared to share it with you!
That’s right – River Park is getting a Sephora! Squeeeeee! (<— That’s my own squeal of delight, in case you couldn’t tell.)
Okay, so maybe you’re not a makeup junkie like myself, and you’re wondering whether Fresno can support this many beauty stores. I’m going to say, “Yes!” again. The cosmetics industry as a whole is growing rapidly in large part due to the explosion of interest and constant sharing of products on YouTube and through other social media venues. And though the interest is growing at a rapid rate currently, Fresno was already “beauty-obsessed” five years ago according to social-location app, Foursquare, which in 2012 named the city the most beauty-obsessed in the country!
So, cosmetics fans, it’s time to get excited about welcoming two additional places to shop to our city, and look forward to increased odds of finding that limited-edition, highly-sought-after palette or lipstick you’re seeking in stock thanks to additional stores conveniently located near one another!
