Welcome back to your first work week of 2016! I know, I know…a little depressing, but do not fear. I’ve gathered up my favorite beauty items for you to stock up your makeup bag and vanity with, and help you feel and look your best in 2016! I know we usually cover the good ol’ local stuff, but these were the lovely little products that have been shopped for the most this year, and were too good not to share—do you have these awesome essentials?
If you have skin that could use a little winter refresh, but you dig a natural look to your complexion, then Philosophy’s No Reason to Hide Moisturizer is for you. Tinted in light and medium shades, Philosophy’s hydrating formula is an everyday go-to that will leave you feeling polished for a new year. Snag this at Ulta in store or online.
I spent years in search of the perfect shade of blush. When I finally found a good one, I went in search of a bronzer. But just as my search ended, I found Rocketeur from Benefit at Ulta in Clovis. This little box of rose gold blush is a perfect blend of blush and bronze, and has lasted me nearly a year, even with everyday use. For a dramatic look, use the angled brush to give dimension to your look.
Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm is a beauty must that can be thrown in your purse and worn with just about any outfit or occasion. An awesome Target find (and most drugstores too), there are six lovely moisture-full colors available at a whopping $3 each! You really can collect them all.
If you despise taking off your makeup at the end of a long day, because you’re too darned tired…and feel like brushing your teeth barely even was possible (not that this ever happens to me), snag Boots No7 Quick-Thinking 4-in-1 Wipes from Target. Refreshing, gentle and fragrance-free, these wipes take off makeup in one simple step, including the heavy-duty waterproof stuff! Each of the 30 wipes per package contain a dose of vitamin pro B5, witch hazel and fennel to moisturize and cleanse those hardworking pores.
Don’t judge, but when I don’t see the sun much in this 50-degree weather, a quick all-over spray of Sublime Bronze Pro Perfect Salon Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist by L’Oreal becomes part of the after-shower routine. The medium natural tan is just a shade darker than my winter dermis, and gives a healthy glow – for just $10! No yucky scent, no sticky feeling.
Do not underestimate your local Target store for eye cream and age defense – the beauty concierge that is usually wandering the aisles is a skincare angel, by the way! I picked up the Boots Botanics Age Defense Hydrating Eye Cream recently, and have never looked back. A little goes a long way with this mineral, oil-free, and paraben-free product, that is proven to take away dark circles and fine lines.
Another local Target find for anti-aging is the Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced Anti Aging Serum Tube. I was impressed to learn that in a clinical study, after 2 weeks skin was proven to look younger and more radiant, and by 4 weeks skin looks clearer and fine lines are visibly reduced. The magic ingredient: Matrixyl 3000 Plus™ – bingo! I have seen some may-jor results with this beauty, and it’s made the short list of items for recommendation in this new year!
Last, but certainly not least, is the Tory Burch Rollerball. I was given this feel-good perfume treasure as a gift, and it is the ideal size to toss in your bag and refresh throughout the day. Available at the local Sephora in store or online, Tory Burch’s scent has notes of Neroli, Grapefruit, Cassis, Bergamot, Peony, Tuberose, Jasmine Sambac, Vetiver, Sandalwood. A new scent in 2016 seems just right!
