Fresno Strong, an event to benefit the families of Carl Williams, Zack Randalls, Mark Gassett, and David Martin Jackson, victims of the recent shooting downtown, will take place tonight at Tioga-Sequioa Brewing Co.
Fresno Strong is an event with vendors, food trucks, music, and beer. But it’s also so much more. It’s a chance to show support for families who need it, and it’s an opportunity to build up the community. When tragic things happen, it’s easy to feel helpless, but there’s always a chance to make a real difference. As Mr. Rogers once said, “Look for the helpers.” Sometimes, in Fresno, the helpers are selling beer and tacos.
Tioga-Sequioa will release a special beer for Fresno Strong and all proceeds from that beer (and some other beers on the menu) will go to the victims’ families. You can also make a cash donation. Vendors such as Mermaid and Co will be there, and food trucks will also be donating their time. Listen to the sounds of DJ Mr. Leonard while you enjoy food from Casa de Tamales, The Smokin’ Burrito, Locavoria559: Flat Bottom Grills and Sno Cafe. All of the vendors at this event will donate to a fund for the families, so you can eat and do some good at the same time.
The bottom line is, Fresno wants to help, and here’s your chance to be part of it. As Michael Cruz, President of Tioga-Sequoia says, “This tragedy could have happened anywhere in town and we would want to lend our support. When it happens in our backyard, it hits closer to home. This won’t bring us down as a community, it will only make us stronger. Fresno Strong!”
If you want to take something tragic and turn it into hope, head to Tioga-Sequoia’s beer garden on 745 Fulton Street. The event runs from 5-9 p.m (check out the Facebook event page here). Stop by, have a beer, and help strengthen our community.
