Have you been to a Fresno Grizzlies game yet this season? There’s no better time to go than this Memorial Day weekend, because the Grizzlies have a line-up of ridiculously good promotions, one after another!
First up is the thing that’s probably causing the most buzz: The Frankenslice. It doesn’t sound self explanatory but it actually is: “It’s a frank in a slice!” Dreamed up for the Grizzlies’ Halfway to Halloween celebration tonight (Thursday), it’s literally a slice of pizza with a hot dog crust. Mastermind Justin Duke will be serving this crazy creation for one night only.
The Grizzlies have tons of other fun things planned for the Halfway to Halloween celebration, happening over two nights. Thursday night is considered the Party Night, with $2 Tecates and a zombie-themed haunted house. Fans are encouraged to dress up – those who do can get a $5 ticket! Oh and a bonus for you Giants fans? It was just announced that Barry Zito will be starting the game for the Nashville Sounds!
Then Saturday night is Halfway to Halloween: Family Night. Parents and kids are encouraged to dress up to take part in a rare opportunity to trick-or-treat and compete in a costume contest in the middle of May! Plus, there will be a more tamed-down haunted house, and Rally’s is sponsoring a special deal where you can get four super view tickets, four free Rally Burger combo meal vouchers and four zombie t-shirts for $60!
Sandwiched between these two promotions is Friday’s Ag Night, where the Grizzlies will be celebrating both the agricultural and baseball heritage of the Valley by wearing Fresno Raisin Eaters theme jersey, which will be auctioned off during the game. The Fresno Raisin Eaters were our first minor league team and played in the PCL for one year in 1906. Limited edition Raisin Eaters jerseys will also be sold in the store, along with a remixed version: Fresno Taco Eaters shirts, a nod to the annual Taco Truck Throwdown. Plus, stay after the game for the regular (but still awesome) Friday fireworks!
Later on in the weekend is La Familia Sunday. The Grizzlies will be paying tribute to beloved singer Selena as this year marks the 20th anniversary of her death. After the game, Lucha Xtreme Wrestling will be taping “Lucha Wars” for pay per view on the concourse. Kids can also run the bases after the game, and if you ride your bike to the park, you can valet your bike and get a ticket to the game for $6.
But most importantly, finally, FINALLY, my Memphis Redbirds are coming to town on Memorial Day. If you’re just tuning in, the Grizzlies only come second to one thing in my life: the St. Louis Cardinals. And the Redbirds are their Triple-A Affiliate. I’ve literally waited years since the last time they were in Fresno, so needless to say, I’m quite excited. But in all seriousness, it should be a good time for all, and the Grizzlies will be wearing patriotic-themed Captain America jerseys to honor our service men and women. Plus, it’s a Must Catch Monday, which means that for $20, fans can purchase a package that includes 2 Field Level Reserve tickets, 2 Fresno Chaffee Zoo vouchers, 2 Blackbeard’s Mini Golf vouchers, and 2 John’s Incredible Pizza Company vouchers. And just, ya know, ignore the crazy screaming Asian girl in red on the visitors’ side! 🙂
So there you have it! What are you waiting for?! Tickets can be bought online or at the Grizzlies Box Office. Special packages mentioned in this blog can be purchased at the box office or by calling 559-320-4897. The Rally’s package must be purchased by tomorrow (Friday).
