Spring is in the air, and you know what that means for our Valley youth: America’s greatest pastime – baseball season! While the major leagues may still be working out their issues, local youth have been working hard and preparing to show off for the 2022 baseball season.
As a parent who did not have a lot of experience playing sports growing up, navigating high school sports with my son has been a bit of a learning curve. So many players are active in their sports year-round, playing on travel teams, participating in regular one-on-one and small group coaching sessions and athletic conditioning classes.
I joined multiple Central Valley Baseball groups on Facebook in order to better understand what other baseball families did. I was able to access the resources they have, and the trainers and services they trusted. It wasn’t long before I noticed one name rise to the top in nearly every conversation when it came to preparing young players – Sid Lacy of Lacy Baseball.
Sid’s Baseball Career
Sidney (Sid) Lacy played baseball for Clovis High School, graduating in 2016. Sid went on to play for Reedley College and was ranked fourth in relief pitching saves for the entire state of California! From there, he headed to Chico State, where he continued to pitch while studying criminology. His career then took him international, and he pitched for the Harbour Cats of Victoria, Canada. Now, at 24, he is back in the valley coaching at Reedley College. He shares all he has learned from his baseball career and life each week through his private training business, Lacy Baseball.
If you ask in any Fresno/Clovis baseball group who trains their kids, the majority of replies will be “Sid Lacy!”. Sid is a highly skilled coach. Sid is capable of teaching pitching, fielding, hitting, and all that is required to accel in baseball. This trainer is encouraging, uplifting, disciplined, and motivating. He offers his trainees drills and exercises that truly build upon their strengths and abilities. He truly goes above and beyond for his trainees. (Sidney once Facetimed my son through drills on Christmas Eve when we were unable to make a training session!)
