Recently, I attended an event at Let It Grow plant shop, and was happy to stumble across a booth for Nova Saige Tea who had a sign advertising their iced Churro Latte tea. I LOVE cinnamon and sugar anything and everything, and on such a warm day, that sounded like perfection – and I can assure you, it absolutely was. With such a unique flavor, and many more listed on the company’s social media accounts, I decided on behalf of the tea lovers of Fresno, I simply had to reach out to the owner, Courtney, to learn more and help more of you lovely readers discover the wonderful blends of Nova Saige Tea.
FresYes: Tell us a little about yourself, are you originally from the Fresno area, and what brought you to being the owner of a tea company?
Courtney: My name is Courtney and I’m a Fresno native. I first fell in love with tea drinking when I moved to Chicago a few years ago. I met my now husband (Tyjuan) and our first date was tea tasting at Adagio Tea. Back in 2020, we were watching Shark Tank and a woman who owns Teaspressa was pitching her business and I thought “Wow! I’d love to do that!” So I did some research on how to open a home-based food business and tested different blends. After a couple of months, we were official!

FresYes: How did you come up with the name Nova Saige?
Courtney: Nova (5) is my first born daughter, and Nala Saige (2) is my second daughter. I named the business after them. And yes, they both drink tea! Their favorites are hibiscus w/ lime, and vanilla rooibos.
FresYes: What do you consider to be the special things that sets your teas and business apart from others?
Courtney: Our tea is blended and pre-measured by hand. Instead of the blends being placed in a bag, there are separate packs that you use for one drink. We love for each drink to taste exactly the same (the consistency is important), so we measuring our ingredients by the ¼ teaspoon! It’s definitely a labor of love.
FresYes: What are some of your most popular teas? And, your personal favorites?
Courtney: Our most popular tea is Vocal Bible, a chamomile and peppermint lemonade elixir, with peach and ginger notes. Another popular tea is Churro Latte, which has cinnamon, South African Rooibos, and Assam black tea. It’s delicious!

I’d have to say my favorite is Down 2 Mars, our herbal coffee blend. As delicious as it is, my body cannot tolerate coffee at all. Between the caffeine and acidity, I’ve had to stop drinking it some years ago, but I finally perfected our herbal coffee blend after a YEAR of testing and I enjoy making it in a moka pot!
FresYes: How can people purchase from you?
Courtney: You can purchase on our site at novasaigetea.com. Fall Tea Line is dropping September 19th!
FresYes: What’s ahead for Nova Saige? What are some hopes for the future?
Courtney: For now, we are operating from home but we’d love to explore what owning an actual tea shop would look like later down the line!
FresYes: Is there anything else you’d like our readers to know about that I may not have asked?
Courtney: My husband and I love our little business and look forward to serving our community tea, made easy and delicious!
In addition to ordering Nova Saige teas online, you can also follow the business on Instagram to stay informed of future pop up events where you can enjoy the teas made by the owners, too!
