“Being able to share tea with people, is being able to share time with people.”

Tea season is here in the Central Valley. The temperatures, after all, are predicted to dip as low as the 70s next week. And there’s at least one rain cloud pictured in the iPhone Weather Channel forecast. So, there’s no better time than now to introduce the newest source for great tea in our community: Misty Peak Teas.
Nicholas Lozito brought his online tea sales operation to Clovis from Portland, Ore. just a few months ago, a move motivated by his growing family. But, five years ago — before kids, Portland, and Misty Peak — Lozito just wanted to see how tea was made while on a trip to China with his wife. A chance encounter with a tea farmer in the Yunnan province turned into a night of drinking tea (the only means of communication between two men who didn’t speak the same language), and would eventually inspire the idea for a business that delivers the ancient pu’er tea of the region to countries around the world. And now to Clovis, as well.
Specializing in the world’s oldest tea — which is a lot like wine, Lozito says, in that it gets better with age — Misty Peak Teas hopes to build connections between people. Connections similar to the relationship that was built between Lozito and farmer Liu Bin back in China in 2011, when tea “literally changed my life,” Lozito says.
The story of Misty Peak Teas is one of culture, and of cultural exchange. One steeped in history and best told by Lozito himself…over a cup of tea. So check out the video below and try a cup of pu’er tea for yourself at Collect Coffee Bar or Cold Mountain Coffee Co. Or buy it online and share it with your friends. As Lozito says: “Being able to share tea with people, is being able to share time with people.”
