I did something crazy this last week. I went out and got a haircut!
It’s not as drastic as cuts I’ve had in the past, but it is pretty short.
The time before last I went from really, really long to pretty short. I thought I would have more regret over that cut, but I had lots of changes going on at the time, and the cut was almost like a new beginning. It was summertime, I had been losing weight, and my hair just looked unhealthy. So by chopping it all off I felt so much better and cooler! I got rid of all the dead ends, added bangs, and my hair looked so much healthier. (Too bad I didn’t get rid of the grays as well.) The person who cut my hair did an amazing job, and I got the most compliments I’d ever gotten before on a haircut. And guess where I went for that cut?
Supercuts.
Yep, for reals.
So, when I wanted to cut my hair this time around, I decided to go back to Supercuts. I’m almost always on a budget, and that’s one of the reasons why I like Supercuts-as they are pretty inexpensive. Not to mention, when I get a wild hair (pun intended), I know I can just walk in and be seen that same day. And that’s just how it happened. I was prepping for a new semester at work, I had new clothes and shoes that I got as Christmas presents, and I figured that I needed a new haircut to make the package complete. There was no time to go to an expensive salon, so I jumped in my car and headed over to Supercuts. I went back to the same one where I got the cute cut over the summer. I was prepared with pictures from my last cut, and I was hopeful that I’d get the same person who cut my hair before.
Except that I didn’t.
Now the thing about Supercuts is that they have a pretty high turn over rate. Usually it’s a place where people start their career. Oftentimes some of the best stylists move on to better salons, and I think this may have been the case in my situation. I was still determined to get a cute cut, after all, I was armed with photos of the cut. Multiple photos. I shared these pictures with the person who ended up cutting my hair. I really like this guy, and he’s been at this particular Supercuts for a while now. He’s cut my son’s hair and my hair before. I felt confident that I’d get an awesome cut.
Except that…..
Actually, it’s not so bad, it’s just not what I was envisioning. After I went home and styled it, I realized that it was a bit too short for my liking, BUT it was still cute. It just took me a couple of days to get use to it, and now I have to say, it’s really grown on me. (Hahaha, see what I did there?)
Okay, so where am I going with this? I’m here because I need your help. I’m often sharing great things about Fresno with everyone, so now I need you guys to share with me! Finding a good hair stylist is like finding a good babysitter, dentist, doctor, contractor, or even realtor. đ Once you find that person, you hold on to them and you never let go. I’ve been to many a hair stylist, but I have yet to find someone who listens to what I have to say, is ah-mazing, and who makes me look like Kate Middleton when I leave. (Okay, so maybe I’m asking for too much.)
This is where you come in. Who is the person you trust with your hair? Which great FresYes community member would you recommend as a hair stylist? Not that I’ve had bad experiences with Supercuts-no, not at all. In fact, I’ve really liked the people who’ve cut my hair. I’m just looking for somewhere to go, where I know that person will be there on a regular basis. I’d like to find a stylist I can call my very own. Perhaps y’all can help me with that?
Oh, and here I am, on my first day back at work. See, the cut is pretty cute after all!
