It’s my favorite time of the year! I have a serious gift-giving addiction, which means I love, love, LOVE Christmas. As such, I’ve been done with my holiday shopping for weeks. So I decided to turn my attention to helping YOU shop for your friends and loved ones!
For this blog, I decided to concentrate on stocking stuffers. My criteria was to find items from locally-owned stores that could fit in a stocking and cost under $20. I’m going to break them into a few categories of different people you may be shopping for.
For The Ladies
No surprise that my first go-to place is The Foundry Collective in Old Town Clovis. There were a couple of items in particular that I want to highlight. The first are these California necklaces. They’re delicate, pretty and a ridiculously priced at $12.95.
The other little gem I found and loved at The Foundry was these keychains. As a writer, I love things that are literary odes. This keychain features a sweet Walt Whitman quote that says, “We were together. I forget the rest.”
There are lots of other great stocking stuffers to be found at The Foundry (accidental pun)! If you want to go warm and cozy, there are plenty of beanies and boot cuffs. I also dig their other jewelry and stationery items.
Speaking of stationery, if you have any ladies in your life who love it as much as I do, stopping by Top Drawer in Fig Garden Village is a must. I am personally a fan of the Kate Spade line, so this is a great way to get designer while still shopping local. The travel mugs in particular are adorable and all under $20. This is also a great place to get your Christmas cards if you don’t have them yet or to find a unique one for someone special.
Finally, I like to think outside the box sometimes when buying gifts for girls. For example, don’t forget the female sports fans in your life! I love both Sports Station at Fashion Fair Mall and All American Sports Fan at River Park. I particularly like these high high heeled shoe ornaments at Sports Station.
Further outside the box, I love these ahh!-larm keychains, which I found at Ooh LaLa in Clovis. A great safety gift that doesn’t look ugly and is easy to carry around. Ooh LaLa is, by the way, another great store to get cute accessories for stocking stuffers.
For The Guys
Men can be a little trickier, of course. Naturally, I gravitated toward the aforementioned sports stores for them. Even at those stores, it was hard to find items I loved under $20. A fun ornament from Sports Station might be a good way for the guy in your life to feel like he’s represented on your Christmas tree! I also really like the magnet football bottle openers at Sports Station and the team earbuds at All American Sports Fan.
But it’ll be no surprise that The Foundry once again won as my favorite place to buy stocking stuffers for men as well. They have great soaps and body products (that will double as a present for their ladies when your men smell nice)! And they had the most amazing stocking stuffer of all: a Pocketmonkey multi-tool that fits into a wallet and contains everything from screwdrivers and wrenches to a bottle opener and an orange peeler. In fact, maybe I need one, too!
For The Kids
The girly-girls in your life will probably love seeing cute accessories in their stockings. For the younger ones, I would suggest these adorable bows and and headbands from the Vera Bradley collection at Top Drawer.
Also, every man, woman and child would probably enjoy one of these adorable Christmas cookies from Top Drawer.
For the tween/teen girls, definitely head to Julia Vogue at River Park or the Villagio Shopping Center across the street. They have tons of pretty jewelry under $20, as well as scarves, hats and other accessories.
As far as toys go, you don’t have to go to Target or Walmart to get the stuff your children want! I found this amazing store called Professor Toy in the Villagio Shopping Center across from River Park. They have everything from Minions to Legos. For stocking stuffers, Here’s a selection of the toys I loved.
So those are a few of my favorite things. One of my mains reasons for doing this is to remind you as always that there are options to shop local no matter what you’re looking for! Merry Christmas and Happy Shopping!
