Happy day after Christmas! I hope Santa was good to everyone this year. As for me, well, I got coal in my stocking. Teeheehee. Here’s hoping next year is better! 😉
As the year draws to a close, I like to look back and think about how far I’ve come, and where I’ll be going in the year ahead. I’m not much of a  New Year’s resolutions type of gal, instead, I like to make small goals for myself throughout the year. I think it’s good to be constantly reflecting, and finding ways to better ourselves.
As I think back on 2014, I think of all of the highs and lows the year had brought me. There were so many smiles, tears (both happy and sad), adventures and new experiences. There was a lot of reflecting, and a lot of soul searching. New friends were made. New foods were tried. I found new places in Fresno that I had never been to before. I also visited some of my favorite places, time and time again. There were good times and bad times. Through the bad times I found myself relying a lot on God and my friends. I also relied a lot on being thankful. My daughter and I started a tradition last year, where we write down things we are thankful for, and then place them in a container. I used a pretty vase, and every time we were thankful for something, we’d write it down, fold the paper, and put it in the vase. At the end of the year it was wonderful to see how full the vase was. On New Year’s Eve, as the clock struck midnight, we’d open the back door to let out the previous year, then open the front door to welcome in the new one. After we did that, my daughter and I sat at the table and read through all the things we were thankful for throughout the year. You can see last year’s list here. Doing this really helps to keep the focus on the positive, which can sometimes be a difficult thing to do.
I’m positive for what lies ahead in 2015. I don’t know what will happen, but I’d like to share a list with you guys of some things I’d like to see happen.
*I’d like to finally visit Yosemite. Can you believe that I’m a FresYes native, but I’ve NEVER been to Yosemite?! How is this possible you ask? Well, I blame….Uh, I don’t know who to blame. But, let’s make it a goal for 2015, K?
*I’d like to visit many new restaurants around town. I love the little mom and pop type places. So, if you have a favorite hole in the wall-let me know!
*I’m hoping to take my kids to the snow.
*Camping again this summer.
*I’d love to make new connections with those around Fresno!
So, as we look to what 2015 brings, I have a wish for you all. I hope that 2015 is a great year for you. I hope that you welcome that new baby, home, car, family member, friend, job, church, neighbor or spouse with love.
I hope that Fresno is good to you and yours.
Thank you for allowing me to share some of my favorite places with y’all this year.
