Where To Buy Local – Thanksgiving Desserts
This week families and friends will gather together to celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s a holiday rich in reflection and food.
Turkey, ham, stuffing, candied yams… many delicious foods will be enjoyed. And just when you think you can’t eat another bite – DESSERT!
I am sure plenty of you enjoy baking from scratch. Maybe each year you make grandma’s famous pumpkin pie or you’ve been “Pinning” dozens of recipes you just can’t wait to bake. But, if you are running out of time or it’s just easier to pick something up from the store, I’m on your side with some tasty ideas!
The best part… they are all from locally-owned businesses because remember, it’s important to shop local this holiday season.
Summertime Pies
If it’s pie you are looking for, you may want to try Summertime Pies. Their food truck is a staple at Gazebo Gardens and Enzo’s Table.
They are taking orders for 9” pies, but you better act fast. Monday, November 21st is the last day to order. Flavors include Pumpkin Cheesecake, Dutch Cranberry Apple and Bourbon Pecan. Pies are $17 each. To order call Sherry at 559-999-7496.
The Frosted Cakery
The Frosted Cakery in Fresno’s Tower District is famous for their cakes and cupcakes, but for Thanksgiving they are also serving up pie!
Located at 1292 N. Wishon, the bakery is taking orders now. Thanksgiving themed cakes, cake pops and cupcakes, including a candied yam flavor, are also available. The Frosted Cakery can be reached at 559-917-8880.
Eddie’s Bakery
Eddie’s Bakery has been turning out tasty treats for nearly 75 years. There are plenty of fall and Thanksgiving items available, including super cute turkey cookies. Call 559-323-0900 or visit the bakery at 7089 N. Cedar to place orders.
La Boulangerie
If you are looking for something a little bit out of the ordinary, you may want to try La Boulangerie in Fresno’s Fig Garden Village. That’s at Palm and Shaw. Open since 1980, the bakery and restaurant has a French flare.
Many of the bakery items feature fresh fruit. For Thanksgiving, Cranberry Coconut Bars are available. Stop by or call 559-222-0555 to learn more.
The Market
Another locally owned spot featuring tasty pies and desserts is The Market at Bullard and West in Fresno. The moment you walk in the grocery store you can’t help, but smell all the goodness coming from the bakery.
Looking for more than just dessert? The Market is serving up a full Thanksgiving feast. No one needs to know you didn’t cook it all yourself 🙂
Dinner for eight with turkey or ham and all the trimmings, including a pumpkin pie is $129.99 plus tax. Call 559-432-3306 to place orders.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to eat!
Have a healthy and happy Thanksgiving!
