For our family, and many others – as we greet spring, we also greet lots and lots of baseball hours. Whether it’s watching our son play Cal Ripkin ball, taxiing him (and sometimes his buddies) to practice or cheering on our favorite MLB team (which I will not mention here, for my safety’s sake, ha!) my family loves the game. (Fun fact: you can actually letter in varsity baseball score keeping in high school. I know this because I did this and my husband still makes fun of me to this day.)
If your family is like ours and has one or more baseball or softball players, today’s post is for you. Did you know we have a really fantastic, climate-controlled indoor batting cage and baseball training facility in Fresno? Well, we do! My son had the pleasure of practicing there for the first time and we really enjoyed the experience.
Future Prospects (Central Valley facility) is located behind Costco off of West Shaw and Golden State at 5125 N. Gates Avenue and offers 8 pitching lanes (6 for baseball and 2 for softball), 2 pitching lanes, a warm up area with pretty much every piece of warm-up equipment you could imagine, a plush waiting area for parents with wi-fi and comfy leather chairs and even a fully stocked pro-shop. Slow, curve and fast pitch machines are all available and the entire facility is professionally lit, making it easy to keep your eye on the ball.
Future Prospects offers monthly membership plans (that allow for unlimited access during business hours) and hourly cage rentals for individuals as well as season memberships and hours for teams. For my son’s team, we found the team rental option to be most economical for a one-shot use to brush up on hitting, but I think the season package is also a great deal – breaking down to less than $20 per player for a weekly time slot all baseball season long. I took a photo of the current rate card to help you decide what may be best for your family/team.
In addition to a phenomenal facility, Future Prospects also offers training and instruction from highly qualified instructors, including former major leaguers, so be sure to check out that option as well.
For more info, be sure to check out the Future Prospect’s website or give them a call at 559-274-9930.
*Note – I am continuing to accept and compile the “best of” Spring activities list, and am extending the contest into next week to give everyone a bit longer to share their favorite Fresno Spring activities. For more on that, please visit last week’s post here.
