If you’re in Fresno and have a penchant for unique finds, Chesterfield’s Antiques and Consignments is a must-visit. Located on Blackstone Avenue just north of Shaw, this antique store isn’t just a shop; it’s a treasure trove of history and artistry.
I first visited Chesterfield’s a few years back, and I was in complete awe of how large the store is. When you walk in, you’re in a showroom with lots of furniture, display tables, curio cabinets full of special trinkets, and art. As you continue walking, you find yourself in additional showrooms that are offshoots of the main – and you think, wow, there’s a lot to see here! But then, you take a few steps further and realize there’s an entire warehouse filled with even more unique treasures, even large than the store itself to peruse!
On my first visit, I came upon a beautiful crystal chandelier that reminded me of one my grandmother had in her home. I always loved it. The glittering light that shown through it seemed magical to me. I looked at the chandelier, saw the price tag that read $425 and placed it gently back into its box. A few minutes later I walked back to look at it one more time, and a woman who was working there told me she was clearing out that booth, and if I liked the chandelier – I could buy it for $75. It was the BEST moment, and I was so thrilled! (It hangs in my home’s entryway now, and I smile every time I look at it.)
Chesterfield’s opened in 1993, and has become a local icon for its extensive collection of high-quality antiques. The store spans a vast 12,000 square feet, offering an eclectic mix of items that cater to various tastes and preferences. Whether you’re an experienced collector or a novice in the world of antiques, Chesterfield’s welcoming atmosphere and seemingly never-ending selection makes it the perfect place to start your journey.
One of the most striking aspects of Chesterfield’s is its diverse inventory. 17 different vendors offer their curated collections within the store, in addition to the store’s own selection. From elegant home decor to arts and crafts, and even quality used furniture, the choices are truly extensive. My personal favorite items to look at in the store are their wall mirrors, crystal light fixtures, and gorgeous rugs. They also always have a beautiful selection of vintage serve ware and glasses, which I like collecting, mixing, and matching when hosting family and friends for a meal.
For those interested in estate sales and appraisals, Chesterfield’s offers expert services, guided by years of experience in the field. Their approach is personal and respectful, making the process of downsizing or estate liquidation less daunting.
Chesterfield’s Antiques and Consignments is more than just a store – it’s a gateway to the past, filled with stories waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re looking to add a unique piece to your collection or simply seeking a new experience, Chesterfield’s is a hidden gem worth exploring.
Chesterfield’s is open from 10am to 5pm Wednesday through Sunday.
