In the heart of Southeast Fresno, a new yet familiar culinary gem has emerged, promising not just tantalizing flavors but also a heartwarming story of resilience and community support. Love & Thai, the brainchild of owner David Rasavong and his family, has opened its doors, bringing with it a delectable fusion of Thai and Lao cuisines. This is more than just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of family, culture, and the triumph of love over adversity.

From Tasty Thai to Love & Thai
The journey of Love & Thai begins with a bittersweet chapter in Rasavong’s life. Formerly the owner of Tasty Thai, Rasavong faced a painful ordeal earlier in the year. Racism fueled false allegations of animal abuse and bizarre claims about serving dog meat at the restaurant led him to make the difficult decision to close Tasty Thai. It was a devastating moment for a man who had embarked on a culinary venture to honor his parents and share their love for food with the community.
Thankfully, the Rasavong family’s cherished recipes did not vanish from Fresno for long. With unwavering determination, they have now reopened their Thai and Lao restaurant under a new name, Love & Thai, breathing new life into their culinary legacy.
A New Beginning in Southeast Fresno
Love & Thai is nestled in the Vallarta shopping center, on the northeast corner of Chestnut and Butler, near Fresno Pacific University and McLane High School. The restaurant has undergone a complete makeover, transforming the former Pacific Fried Chicken space complete with walls adorned with family photos and a striking mural, adding a personal touch to the ambiance.

A Culinary Journey Through Lao and Thai Delights
What truly sets Love & Thai apart is its menu, which boasts a tantalizing array of both Lao and Thai dishes. The choices are as diverse as they are delicious.
Start your meal with appetizers like crispy Egg Rolls, flavorful Spring Rolls, succulent Chicken Satay, and the refreshing Coconut Rice Salad, also known as Nam Kao. For the main course, there’s a wide selection, from Sticky Rice Plates to mouthwatering Noodle Dishes and traditional combo meals like Crispy Pork Belly, Lao Beef Jerky, and Man Tok (BBQ Beef). Each dish is a flavor-packed journey through the heart of Southeast Asia.
Specialty dishes like Garlic Chicken, Fried Tilapia, Beef & Broccoli, and Chicken Fried Rice are sure to delight your taste buds. And don’t forget to save room for dessert; Love & Thai offers sweet indulgences to satisfy your cravings.

A Feast for the Senses
During a recent visit with coworkers, the food served at Love & Thai exceeded all expectations. Every dish arrived piping hot, showcasing the freshness and bold flavors of each ingredient. The vegetables in the dishes were perfectly tender-crisp and vibrant. One standout feature of the restaurant is its efficiency; our orders were promptly delivered within less than 15 minutes, even during the lunch hour.

Supporting Love & Thai
Love & Thai is more than just a restaurant; it’s a testament to the resilience of a family determined to share their love for food with their community. By dining at Love & Thai, you’re not just indulging in a flavorful journey through Southeast Asian cuisine; you’re also supporting a wonderful, family-owned business.
Let’s show our unwavering support to the Rasavong family and ensure that their culinary legacy continues to thrive. Together, we can enjoy their delicious food and demonstrate that the community stands with them, ready to savor every mouthwatering bite Love & Thai has to offer. Come for the food, stay for the love, and leave with a heart full of flavor.
