The FresYes Quiz is a weekly recap of our posts, and social content that happened this week. The best part about it is that it’s really easy and you can win stuff just by taking the quiz. We make the quiz super easy.
With lows getting down to near freezing, you really need to keep you ears warm which is why our FresYes Beanie is going to be the prize again this week.
The science of keeping your head warm in chilly weather goes beyond mere comfort. While the iconic myth of losing 80% of body heat through the head may be debunked, it’s still a significant heat emitter. Our heads have a large surface area for heat loss, especially compared to their insulation (unless you have a mane of yeti-worthy hair!). Plus, our brains, those temperature-sensitive control centers, need a stable climate to function optimally. Chilly noggins send confusing signals to the body, triggering shivers and diverting precious energy from fun winter activities to maintaining core temperature.
That’s where the cozy science kicks in. Covering your head traps precious heat through insulation provided by hats, scarves, and earmuffs. These barriers create a microclimate around your head, slowing the transfer of heat to the chilly air. In turn, your body doesn’t need to work as hard to maintain its internal thermostat, keeping you comfortably warm and ready to frolic in the snow. Think of it as building a personal heat dome for your head, allowing you to conquer the cold with a happy head and warm thoughts. Science for the win!
If you are new to this game it’s pretty easy. We ask some pretty easy questions, or usually just one simple one. You get the answer correct and you are in the running to win. The prizes can range from things like our beanie to two tickets to the Red Seats at a Bulldog Game!

Sorry, it’s too late to take the quiz. Better luck next week!
