Fresno is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. But it’s especially wonderful during the summer. With its warm weather, sunny skies, and abundance of activities, Fresno is the perfect place to enjoy the summer months with your family. Yes, we know it also gets a little “warm” from time to time.

Sunshine, Fresno and pools will always go together. And we know how easy it is to just “Throw the kids in the pool“, but there’s problems with that. What if you don’t have a pool? Luckily we have two very large banners right below that will get you on the right path. Each will show you ALL of the current properties for sale in Fresno or Clovis that have a Pool. Take a minute and picture the kids jumping into this one or that one….

and of course…

As of this posting, there are currently almost 100 properties listed with pools!
The other problem is, even if you have a pool, they’ll have to come out sooner or later. Who wants a waterlogged, shriveled up kid? Plus where’s the quality family time? You need that, and it can’t always be in the pool, right?
With that in mind we found 7 great things for the entire family to do in Fresno
(that don’t involve the pool)

Visit the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is home to over 200 species of animals, including lions, tigers, bears, elephants, and giraffes. There are also plenty of interactive exhibits and activities for kids of all ages.

We’ve written quite a few articles about the Fresno Chaffee Zoo.

Take a hike in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The Sierra Nevada foothills are home to a variety of hiking trails, perfect for a day of exploring with your family. There are trails for all levels of experience, so you can find one that’s perfect for your family.

As you might have guessed, we’ve written a bunch about Hiking close by too, including three great trails and another three!

Visit the Fresno Grizzlies. The Fresno Grizzlies are a minor league baseball team that plays at Chukchansi Park. Tickets are affordable and the games are a lot of fun. There’s also a kids’ zone with games and activities, so your kids will never get bored.

You can view the schedule and buy tickets for the Fresno Grizzlies here: https://www.milb.com/fresno/schedule/

Catch a movie at the Historic Crest Theatre. The Crest Theatre was built in 1948 and opened in 1949 as one of several ornate movie theaters downtown. The retro Art Deco style was very popular for theaters in the 1940s and 1950s. Of particular significance is the building’s fifty-foot-tall sign, which is the most elaborate example of commercial neon work in Fresno. You might remember when we interviewed a local artist Maja Wrońska who painted the image of the Crest Theatre below.

As for the type of movie they show, they are usually for the teen or older kids (and grownups). Recent showing have been The Matrix, Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, Rogue One, and even Toy Story.
Their Facebook Page is usually the best place to see what’s happening. https://www.facebook.com/fresnocrest/

Visit the Fresno Art Museum. The Fresno Art Museum has a collection of over 14,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, and photography. There are also a variety of special exhibitions throughout the year.

“We are accredited with American Alliance of Museums which means our stand for excellence is evident in all that we do here. The Fresno Art Museum is a jewel in the cultural crown of Fresno.”
You can find the Fresno Art Museum at 2233 N First St, Fresno, CA 93703

Take a walk through the Tower District. The Tower District is a historic district that’s home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and bars. There’s also a farmers market every Sunday, where you can buy fresh produce and other local goods.
Once again here’s an incredible piece of art from Maja!

We’ve covered quite a few businesses (and people) in the Tower District. https://www.fresyes.com/category/tower-district/

Enjoy a picnic in Roeding Park. Roeding Park is a large park with a variety of amenities, including a playground, picnic areas, and a golf course. There’s also the zoo, which we covered above – maybe combine the two? Good Job Mom!

Here’s directions to Roeding Park: https://goo.gl/maps/VHtJ6WGsacU7sT3A9
