Wait, you have no idea what we’re talking about? Let’s back up a sec and explain some stuff.
What the heck is Alexa?
Alexa is a virtual assistant used with the Amazon Echo or Amazon Echo Dot. These are voice-controlled “smart speakers” that are connected to wifi or Bluetooth and play music and audiobooks, stream podcasts, give you the weather and news, or control functions around your home like turning on lights or controlling temperature.
Alexa is similar to Siri on the iPhone, basically. You give it a command and the device recognizes key words then performs that function.
So what are “skills”?
When you hear about adding skills to your Alexa device, just think “apps.” So if you want to connect your Spotify account to Alexa, for example, you subscribe to that skill. Or if you use Uber, you can connect to that and then say something like, “Alexa, ask Uber to request a ride,” and it does.
Why do I need this?
To freak out that weird uncle of yours who is convinced the robots are taking over, of course. Also, convenience, accessibility, etc. The Echo and Echo Dot are hands-free devices, so they can assist you in everyday activities.
What does this have to do with FresYes Realty?
We got skillzzzzz. Or, a skill, which you can subscribe to, as mentioned above. To do that, just log in to your Amazon account (or set one up here), search for “FresYes” in the skill category, then subscribe.
