I’m often asked why I put so much time and money into Fresyes.com … what’s the underlying reason, what’s in it for me, and so on.
The answer is pretty straightforward: I want to give back to the community that continues to give to me. I can think of no better way to do that than providing resources, stories, interviews, and neighborhood information in a way that’s useful to those that hang their hats here and to the folks who are thinking about finding their own pegs.
Do I meet people as a result of these efforts that want to sell and buy homes in Fresno and Clovis?
Yes, I sure do! They find value in what I do, see me as a neighborhood expert and as someone who cares about them and their families, so they put me to work.
For me, there are few things more rewarding than that. But there is something. Over and above Fresyes.com helping me to put food on my family’s table is the satisfaction that comes after receiving letters like these:
Dear Mr. Farris: I am writing to you to thank you for the article you wrote regarding our daughter, Karyn Jakobs. It means so much to her father & me (her mom) that you have taken an interest in our daughter and her problem with thyroid cancer.
By you writing about Karyn, you have gotten the Fresno community and the surrounding area aware of her struggle with her rare cancer. She is now in Mexico and without the people of Fresno and people like you her journey there would not have been possible.
I was born in Fresno (Verna Steinhauer Sorrick), as Karyn, was, too. I thank The Fresno community so much for helping our daughter for the opportunity to make this trip possible; without you, again, it would not have been possible.
Mr. Farris, thank you so much for putting Karyn’s name out there for people to learn and hear about Karyn Elizabeth (Sorrick) Jakobs. Please pray for our daughter….every prayer helps. Her Mom, Verna (Steinhauer) Sorrick aka Nana
If you missed the story the first time, please enjoy it here. If you have stories to share, if we can help you get the word out for a needy cause or local startup business please let me know and I’ll do what I can. We are all on this planet city together – let’s love it!
