Here in FresYes and all over the Valley, you can on any given day find one of my favorite outdoor events in the form of the Farmers Market. Some would say, “if you have been to one, been to them all,” but as a self-proclaimed Farmers Market expert, I would have to beg to argue that they are not even close.
Many people will read Farmers Market and instantly associate the name with the Clovis Farmers Market held on Friday nights, right in the middle of downtown.
The real gem in the topic is you can, on every single day of the week, find a Farmers Market within a short drive of wherever you live. Wednesday mornings, it’s the small yet mighty version held at Kaiser Hospital. Thursday nights in Hanford, it’s the polar opposite, held downtown in the early evening and so expansive it took me almost 2 hours just to go check out the food booths when I went this week.
Add into the mix the Riverpark Farmers Market on Tuesdays, the Palm and Nees Market of Saturday mornings, the Vineyards Market, the Downtown market and I think you will start to get the idea I’m trying to convey.
The Valley and FresYes have perfected the art of the Farmers Market. Fruits and foods from the field to your home in the same day, restaurant quality food on the paper plate, music, dancing, kids games and probably even a new cable provider, if that’s your thing.
It does not matter if you are with your special someone shopping for a local dinner creation or out with the kids for sticky foods and face painting, the Farmers Market is always – I must stress always – going to a better option than the big box grocery store. I think I said always……
Yes, ALWAYS.
