Some like it hot! That’s the theme of this month’s race calendar. Here’s your monthly FresYes guide to local runs, most of which support awesome causes in our area.
Taco Tuesday Summer 5K Series—Woodward Park
When: Tuesday, Aug. 7
Price: $10 ($5 more for tacos and drink)
The theme of this fiesta is “Disney,” which means you are encouraged to wear your favorite Disney themed race wear. The run gets underway at 7 p.m. and racers can choose to partake in tacos and soft drinks.
Hot Run 5K Run/2-Mile Walk/Run—Woodward Park
When: Saturday, Aug. 11
Price: $35 (price increases Aug. 10)
This races is all about health—it benefits the United Health Centers Foundation. United Health Centers offers health services to families in underserved communities throughout the Central Valley.
SAR (Search and Rescue) Run Wild Half Marathon, 10K, 5K—Shaver Lake
When: Sunday, Aug. 12
Price: Half marathon, $85. 10K, $50. 5K, $45. 2-Mile, $40
This popular trail run has sold out the last two years. It benefits the Fresno County Search and Rescue team. Members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department will be cooking up a BBQ feast for racers. There’s custom Big Food medals for all finishers. This race is also part of the Summertime Run Series.
Hell of a Half Marathon—Exeter
When: Saturday, Aug. 18
Price: $95
This run is a challenge! There will be nine aid stations to help participants as they make their way through the hot 13.1-mile event. This run supports the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, which sends child burn survivors to “Champ Camp” and “The Getaway.” Act fast because this half marathon sells out each year!

The final Taco Tuesday race of the year has a pop star theme, so come dressed like Britney or Madonna! The run gets underway at 7 p.m. and racers can choose to partake in tacos and soft drinks.
Campus Life 5K Walk/Run—Woodward Park
When: Saturday, Aug. 25
Price: $30 for adults. Kids are $15. Prices increase Aug. 19.
It’s the fourth year for this fundraiser run supporting Fresno/Madera Youth for Christ. There will be a breakfast after the race. The 5K is chip timed.
