Looking for some fright-filled fun this Halloween?! There are a few nearby “haunted” attractions that will surely have you jumping, screaming and holding on tight.
Haunted houses and other like attractions have gotten more elaborate over the years. Many employ actors, whose main job is to scare the living daylights out of you.
These haunted playgrounds attract a wide-range of visitors, but most common are teens and young adults.
Hobb’s Grove

Hobb’s Grove ranked 3rd in the USA Today’s list of 10 Best Haunted Attractions for 2016. It was the only haunted attraction on the West Coast to make the list.
They’ve been around for years and offer a complete haunted Halloween experience. There are three haunted attractions. The haunted forest, haunted house and haunted hayride. You can purchase a combo ticket and do all three attractions or purchase individual tickets.
For adults the combo ticket ranges from $36 to $42 dollars depending on the night. Friday and Saturday’s are more expensive. Children 11 and under are a bit cheaper. You can find all of the pricing information on their website TheGroveHaunt.com or call 559-356-3958.
You can make a night of it. There’s entertainment to enjoy, fire pits to keep you warm and concessions.
Hobb’s Grove is open through Sunday, October 30th. Gates open at 6PM and haunting begins when it is dark. Friday and Saturday nights they are open until midnight. All other nights the fun ends at 10 o’clock.
If you are coming from Fresno, take 99 South to Central Avenue. Head towards Sanger. Hobb’s Grove is located 1 mile east of Academy.
Raisin Hell Ranch

Raisin Hell Ranch offers the only haunted cornfield attraction in the Central Valley.
Located in Madera, it’s a quick drive from Fresno. Take 99 North to Avenue 7. That’s the first exit North of Herndon. Head west to Road 32. You will see the signs.
Raisin Hell Ranch is open through Halloween. They offer three attractions — the haunted corn maze, a black-out maze (where nothing jumps out at you, but your eyes start playing tricks on you in the dark) and the Asylum (which is sort of like a haunted house).
It’s important to note that none of these attractions are recommended for children 12 and younger.
You can purchase a combo pass for all three attractions. It’s $35 on Friday and Saturday nights at $30 other nights of the week. Single attractions are $15 each.

Frightmare Farms

Looking to slay zombies? You may want to consider taking a drive north to Merced County. Frightmare Farms is located 45 miles north of Fresno.
Take 99 North to Le Grand Rd. Heard East. Make a left on Plainsburg Rd. The farm is located at Plainsburg and Gillete.
In addition to Barnyard Slaughter (a haunted house of sorts) and Frightmare Express (a haunted hayride), there is Zombie Raid.
Zombie Raid is new this year. It’s paintball in a cornfield. You’ll be going up against zombies!!! So watch your back. Zombie Raid is limited to 500 zombie slayers a night.
Frightmare Farms is open through Halloween. Attractions open at 7PM. Tickets for the Barnyard Slaughter and Frightmare Express are $12.50 each. It’s $25 for the Zombie Slay.
