Nothing says the holidays are here like a flying, talking car. Especially if that car is
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
The Children’s Musical Theaterworks of Fresno will be preforming Chitty Chitty Bang Bang from December 2 to December 10.
If you’ve never experienced the magic of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, make 2016 the year! It’s a charming story about a flying car, a wacky and lovable inventor, and lots of adventure. I’m happy to say there’s a lot of catchy tunes that will keep you singing until January. As a child I always enjoyed the classic movie starring Dick VanDyke. Why did I enjoy it? Because the songs have words like, “Toot Sweet” and “Chu-Chi Face”, of course. If you have young, sensitive children, this play is about as scary as a Disney cartoon, so judge accordingly. Mostly though, it’s joy ride of excitement that’s fun for everyone.
I really want to instill a love of the arts in my kids. I love that the CMT shows are performed by kids, because when I take my children to watch them, I secretly hope they’ll be inspired to start singing along with me in the car. So far, we’re still stuck in “Mom is embarrassing” territory.
Anyway, the CMT shows are top notch, high quality, and kid friendly. Just because the performers are young doesn’t mean they aren’t ridiculously talented. Everyone involved in these productions puts Broadway sized effort into them, and it shows.
Tickets are available online, by phone or at the box office. Tickets range from 14 to 22 dollars.
In addition, you can purchase season passes to the 2017 season of shows right now for 25% off. This is a unique idea for a Christmas gift, and you’ll be supporting the local arts. The Children’s Musical Theaterworks is the Valley’s only non profit theater company. It’s a gift that keeps on giving, and you don’t even have to wrap it!
