Eat Local – A Review of Pokiland Restaurant
No recipe from me today, I want to share with you one of my favorite local restaurants! If you live or work in Northeast Fresno you may have noticed a little restaurant named Pokiland in the shopping center at Champlain & Perrin. It’s a small restaurant, but don’t let the size fool you! They are full of big delicious flavor!
I had the pleasure of sitting down and talking shop with the owner Tram. And what a refreshing conversation it was! Tram is a vibrant young professional. She had a vision and dream and with the help of her boyfriend, family, friends and faith, their vision was brought to fruition. Wanting to fill a void in the Fresno Foodie Scene they decided to build Pokiland Restaurant, fusing Sushi and Poke flavors. The name of the restaurant comes from a combination of poke (from Hawaii) and sushi hence the name Pokiland!
You are welcomed to the restaurant when you enter. You get to pick each and every ingredients that goes into your bowl, wrap, salad or nachos! Tram says first timers usually choose a bowl or salad, but if you’re feeling more adventurous then choose a wrap (so yummy, speaking from experience here!) or even nachos! The restaurant is bright and sunny, the music upbeat and fun – you get a good vibe here!
AND you get a great meal. Whether it’s a bowl, wrap, salad or nachos each dish is made just how you like it! (For the sauces, I recommend trying a mixture of Da Bomb & Garlic Miso – a delicious combination!)
Recipes are their own and everything is made fresh daily, in house. Locally sourced ingredients are used whenever possible too!
Do you love Pokiland as much as I do? Well then let me share something with you…. they are working hard to open a second location! This one is going to be in Clovis – how exciting is that?!! Now you won’t have to drive across town to enjoy your favorite new Asian Fusion meal!
Here’s the address in Fresno – make sure to stop by soon and enjoy! 1189 E Champlain Dr. Fresno, CA 93720
