During my experience at True Rest, I felt like I was transported into the future. There I was, floating effortlessly in a pod with relaxing music and soft color spheres filling the space.. ah! I am fairly sure that I have seen something along these lines on the big screen when depicting the world in 2050. Yet, just the other day, I experienced such a futuristic, relaxing experience right here in Fresno.
As I walked into the building, immediately I was greeted with hot tea and spa slippers. After filling out a short form, I watched a short instructional video. At this point… my nerves and my brain were on overdrive.
Since I am not personally a fan of water, let alone being in an enclosed pod full of it! I thought, “How am I going to do this?!”
After the video, our float consultant led us on a tour of the private rooms and the pods. The rooms exceeded my expectations. Each room was fully equipped with showers, shampoo and conditioner, soft lighting, teakwood benches, earplugs for the float, and towels. It truly felt like a private spa suite. Oh, and a casual, large spacecraft looking piece of equipment as photographed above!
Next, we were escorted to our individual suites. And now it was go time, now or never, do or die….
My proudest moment was taking deep breaths and overcoming the fear of water. By conquering my fear, I could fully utilize this time to fully relax.
As I took the leap, I stepped into my pod filled with 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt in 180 gallons of water. It’s important to note, the pods have openings that are on tension rods and floaters can leave the lids all the way open or cracked open or completely closed, dependent on their comfort levels. Personally, I kept my lid open because… baby steps!
With my lid open, I gently cascaded into my pod. The spa music rustled through the water and helped to calm my reservations as I floated atop the water. The water was so dense that it would require a lot of force to sink to the bottom which made it very easy to forget the fear of drowning. (Thank goodness!)
As I settled in, I began to relax over the next hour. I did not fully fall asleep in my pod but I did feel like a mermaid as I gently drifted side to side in the pod and listening to the water and soothing sounds. It was like my inner childhood fantasy of becoming a mermaid had finally come true!
Before I knew it the spa music came back on and it was time to stretch prior to exiting my pod. The most amazing part: My joint stiffness and muscle tightness was completely gone!
After exiting the pod and enjoying a nice warm shower, it was time to go to the Oasis room and enjoy the Oxygen bar. Regrouping and relaxing the in the Oasis room was the perfect ending to a wonderful first-time float experience.
Often the results of the float session are felt over the course of the next few days. The afternoon following my float, I was very relaxed and sleepy. I knew this was a possibility and forewarned the hubby so he could take the lead on the homefront with our
That night I ended up in bed asleep at
Overall, I enjoyed the float experience. I am interested in how
