Some of my best memories are fishing with family and friends. We have a variety of great fishing holes in the valley including multiple lakes, local streams, and rivers (sorry, not going to share my secret location), or you can take the short drive to fish off the Pismo Beach Pier. You can even join a charter in nearby Morro Bay.
I don’t have the opportunity to fish as much as I’d like to and can’t bring myself to buy a fishing license knowing I won’t be able to use it much. That’s why I’m excited for this coming Saturday, August 31st, which is FREE fishing day in California.
It is the one day a year when I have no excuse not to go, and for those of you who are avid fishermen, it’s a great chance for you to take family and friends out to share the experience with them without the need to pay for licenses for everyone.
You’ll, of course, need to follow all other regulations including weight and quantity limits, report cards for fishing sturgeon, steelheads and salmon, and gear restrictions.
Check out the CDFW Website or local facebook groups such as Fresno Fishing for ideas on where to fish.
