It’s that time of year again; you remember all the dinners, festivals, and gatherings last fall don’t you?! During the upcoming weeks and months there will be an event every weekend and most weekdays where people will come together to catch up with one another while enjoying some good food and beer.
I’m not talking about keggers or events where ping pong balls are thrown into red solo cups. I’m talking about all the get-togethers with close friends, family, and co-workers. The ones that begin as the nights start getting longer and the air begins to get crisp.
This fall I suggest you try drinking a local craft beer. It wasn’t too many years ago that Fresno was somewhat limited in choices but these days you have plenty of choices to celebrate over.
Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company has some great choices; my current favorite is the Half Dome California Wheat. I have yet to try their Joaquin Murrieta Chile Pepper Beer. It is spiced up with Fresno chiles, I hear it’s HOT!
Several long time valley favorites come from Sequoia Brewing Company. You may recall them by their original name Butterfield Brewing Company. Interesting fact – Kevin Cox, current Brewmaster for Tioga-Sequoia was once the Brewmaster for Sequoia; now headed up by Brewmaster Rick Bouke.
New to the scene is ‘W Brewing’ out of Clovis, CA. I have yet to have the pleasure but understand from friends that their Marzen Lager is good stuff.
A few local spots that have a great beer selection include Eureka Burger, BC’s Pizza, Body and the Bog, Spokeasy, Mad Duck, and Yard House. If you are looking for a great selection of bottled beer to take or have at your next gathering; hats off to these locals who work hard to make sure you have a great selection: Randy Pearson at BevMo, Chris at Whole Foods, and Jason Hammack at World Market.
Save the date: Sunday, October 7th, 2012 1:00pm till 5:00pm for the Central Valley Craft Brewers Oktoberfest! – For more information check out http://towerdistrict.org
So what is my favorite beer? The one you are buying me 😉
