Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some fun suggestions for events happening in Fresno and beyond.
Friday
At 5 p.m. it’s another Geek Night at Bitwise South Stadium. Join host CMAC and test out their green screen that transports you to a virtual set. Then really go virtual with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive VR headsets. There will be food and beer on hand, as well.
It’s the evening before Fresno Pride, so enjoy the Pride Mega MixHER with Professional OUT Women + MEN’S MIXER at Veni Vidi Vici in the Tower District. This event starts at 6 p.m.
Everyone’s favorite Elvis, Jeremy Pearce, will do a tribute to the king at Engelmann Cellars. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and cost is $15 for this 21+ event. There will be food from Burgers and More and Sadie Mae’s Southern Cooking available.
JD and Cory D. Ward will play acoustic sets at Full Circle Brewing Co. starting at 7 p.m. This is an all ages event. Cost is $8 at the door.
Indiana Jones and the Temple Doom will hit the big screen once more at the Crest Theatre in downtown Fresno.
Enjoy the soulful sounds of Ray Moore and The Get Down Band at Kocky’s Bar & Grill. Free entry before 9 p.m.; $5 cover after. Wings and waffles served all night. (yum!)
Saturday
Saturday is the 28th annual LGBT Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade and Festival. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Olive and Palm avenues. The festival will start at 11 a.m. at Olive and Fulton. Admission to the festival is $5.
During the Pride parade, hang out in the Reel Pride Lounge at the Painted Table. Grab a drink and help support the Reel Pride film festival, which will take place in September.
Hang out post-Pride at Goldstein’s Mortuary & Delicatessen, where they’ll be handing out Gold’s Bucks good toward any brew on the board while supplies last.
Director and students of Hālau Hula I Ka Lā will perform 22 individual hula presentations depicting the relationship between family, past and present, as well as those not of the ethereal world in the 4th Annual Hula hōʻike/ showcase. There are two shows, at 1 and 5 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Building in Clovis.
The 24th annual Serbian Food Festival will be held from 3-10 p.m. at St. Peter The Apostle Serbian Orthodox Church. The fun-filled family affair will feature delicious a la carte food, great music and dancing, and cultural history.
The Standard will host the 3rd Annual North Fresno Whiskey Festival starting at 3 p.m. This tasting event allows guests to sample over 60 whiskies and interact with industry professionals.
Enjoy the 40th anniversary of Grease on the big screen at Engelmann Cellars at 6:30 p.m. This is a family-friendly event and free to attend.
Nate’s Silent Movies at The Revue presents: Charles Chaplin in A Dog’s Life with live piano music by Nate Butler. Cartoons at 7 p.m.; film at 8 p.m. All ages are welcome, admission is pay what you want.
Sunday
Join FAB every Sunday for the Sunday T-dance day party complete with house music and delicious specialty cocktails. The fun starts at 12 p.m. No cover.
Good Company Players presents The Heiress at 2 p.m. at the 2nd Space Theatre. Tickets are $20 general admission.
It’s Sunday Drum Day at Full Circle Brewing Co. The beer and the beats will be flowin’ starting at 3 p.m.
