Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some fun suggestions for events happening in Fresno and beyond.
Friday
Kick off the weekend by attending Grizzly Fest at Woodward Park. The all-ages event runs tonight and tomorrow, and tickets are still available.
Or head south for the Swedish Festival in Kingsburg. Tonight is the Smörgåsbord dinner in Coffee Pot Park! Events will be held Saturday as well.
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s Evenings on the Savannah series lets you enjoy extended hours, live music, and food and drink specials at the zoo. Entrance is regular zoo admission. The event begins at 5 p.m.
Respite by the River will feature students from McLane High School’s ArtVenture Academy presenting their annual art show and gala. This begins at 6 p.m.
Fulton Live is a new music series happening the 3rd Friday of every month. You can expect live bands playing at select venues on Fulton Street in downtown Fresno. Each month a different genre of music will be selected. Event begins at 7 p.m.
Theater fans, you’ll want to hit up Mamma Mia at Roger Rocka’s at 7:30 p.m.. Charlotte’s Web at Tower Theatre at 8 p.m., or The Heiress at 2nd Space Theatre at 8 p.m. All three plays have performances throughout the weekend.
Saturday
Join other bike enthusiasts for the monthly Cumbia Ride, which will leave Vang Pao Elementary at 9:30 a.m.
The Fresno Pirate Festival kicks off at Kearney Park at 10 a.m. Saturday and runs through Sunday!
Dragon Ball Con also will begin at 10 a.m. at Fresno City College. The event will celebrate the Dragon Ball universe and include voice actors, animators, vendors, artists, guest appearances, cosplay contests, gaming tournaments, music, live entertainment, and more.
Royal watchers will want to be at The Revue at 11 a.m. for a Royal Wedding Watch Party hosted by HashtagiDo and Fresno’s Underground Supper Series.
The 3rd annual Family Train Ride to Superior Dairy in Hanford leaves at 11 a.m. Cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for kids.
Sunday
Sawdust Sunday is going down at Ideaworks in downtown Fresno at 1:30 p.m. If you have an interest in woodworking, wood-turning on a lathe, carving, or any other means of sawdust production, this is the event for you.
Or take the kids to Selma to see Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the Selma Arts Center. Show begins at 2 p.m.
Beertainment Sunday featuring Toma will take place at Full Circle Brewing Co. Free, all ages.
