Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some fun suggestions for events happening in Fresno and beyond.
Friday
Beginning at 5 p.m., enjoy food and music during Evenings on the Savannah at Fresno Chaffee Zoo. Entrance is regular zoo admission (zoo members are free).
The Fresno Grizzlies will celebrate Star Wars Night at Chukchansi Park. There will be Star Wars characters roaming the park and fireworks after the game. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
If you didn’t get enough rodeo in Clovis last weekend, head north to the Coarsegold Rodeo today and Saturday. Events start at 6 p.m. both nights.
Orrr, drive to Selma for the Raisin Festival, which is taking place today, Saturday, and Sunday. Enjoy a carnival, food, craft and commercial booths, business and industry displays, and competitions in art, baking, floriculture, photography, and poetry.
Theater fans, you’ll want to hit up A Streetcar Named Desire at Fresno State at 7:30 p.m., Mamma Mia at Roger Rocka’s at 7:30 p.m., or The Heiress at 2nd Space Theatre at 8 p.m. All three plays have performances throughout the weekend.
If you’re looking to dance the night away, Noche Latina in the City is at Full Circle Brewing Co. beginning at 8 p.m. This is an all ages event.
Saturday
Kick off farmers market season by helping Vineyard Farmers Market celebrate its 38th anniversary beginning at 7 a.m. There will be taco trucks and Mariachi Guadalupe will entertain.
Get your free comics during Free Comic Book Day at Heroes Comics beginning at 10 a.m.
It’s the final Fresno High Flea of the season! Look for gifts for mom from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
At 11 a.m., the Women’s Council of Realtor Greater Fresno hosts its 3rd Annual Cards, Cars and Cigars event at Park Place, Nees and Palm, in Fresno. There will be drinks, food, a car show, and poker.
Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant will celebrate Cinco de Mayo and the opening of its new patio on Fulton Street at 2 p.m. in downtown Fresno.
Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co. will hold Lucha de Mayo, a free, all ages wrestling event, at 5 p.m.
Also at 5 p.m. is the Cinco de Mayo AlleyWave Party featuring food trucks, art vendors, live music, street performers, and DJs along the alley, as well as two full bars, seating, and entertainment inside the event center. This is a free, family-friendly event.
Nate’s Silent Movies at The Revue presents Buster Keaton in “The Cameraman” at 8 p.m. Enjoy a classic film to the sounds of Nate Butler’s piano playing.
Sunday
Take the kids to Gazebo Gardens Nursery at 11 a.m. to paint a pot for mom. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 the day of event.
At 12 p.m., CRU Winery is holding its first Vino & Vinyasa event. Your $30 ticket includes a yoga session and glass of wine.
Like beer? You can take a tour of Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co. at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. No open-toed shoes! (You know who you are, flip-flop wearers).
Game of Thrones fans will enjoy Paint & Sip “Fire and Ice” Date Night at Pinot’s Palette at 5 p.m.
