Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some fun suggestions for events happening in Fresno and beyond.
Friday
It’s the last weekend in April, so everyone in the Clovis area knows what’s up this weekend. I’m not even going to say it.
Theater fans, you’ll want to hit up The Heiress at 2nd Space Theatre at 8 p.m. or Mamma Mia at Roger Rocka’s at 7:30 p.m. Both of these are playing throughout the weekend.
The Wizard of Oz is this week’s classic film showing at the Crest Theatre. Doors at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m. Cost is $5.
The Fresno Quilt, Craft and Sew Festival is happening today and tomorrow. Grab your needle and thread and head to the Fresno Fairgrounds.
Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot is at the Tower Theatre tonight at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are available here, eh?
At 7:30 p.m., Bill Clifton’s Chicken & Whiskey Band will be playing Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co., where you can sometimes get chicken but definitely not whiskey.
If Jazz, Wine & Cigars is more your jam, head to Ginza Asian Bistro from 5 to 9 p.m.
Speaking of wine, Marie Wilson Band will kick off the summer 2018 season at Engelmann Cellars. No kids, no pets, just you, some music, and some wine.
Finally, if you’re looking to laugh, Slice of Comedy presents JR DeGuzman at DiCicco’s in Clovis at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday
You’ll want to bring the kids to downtown Fresno for MAD’s Art Tour Saturday at 10 a.m. Girl Scout Miranda Deis will lead you on a tour of public art in the area.
Growers, the Water-Wise Plant Event is happening at the Fresno State Horticulture Nursery at 8 a.m. Bring your plants to exchange with other people who can grow things (I can’t, so I’m jealous).
Yoshi NOW’s annual Spring Flea will be at 10 a.m. Vintage, unique, and handmade goods available.
While you’re downtown, head over to the Chinatown Bazaar at Central Fish Company at 10 a.m.
Or visit Drag Queen Story Hour at Bitwise Industries at 11 a.m. where local drag queens will read children’s books aloud.
California Raisin Day is happening at 11 a.m. at Fresno State’s Gibson Farm Market. Celebrate those tiny little dried grapes in the style in which they deserve.
Ballet fans, the Shirley Winters 10th anniversary Spring Ballet Gala is at 7 a.m. at Fresno Veterans Memorial Auditorium.
Local filmmakers Burlee and Abel Vang will premiere their horror film Bedeviled for free at the Betty Rodriguez Library at 1 p.m. Like all the best movies, this film is rated R.
Finally, celebrate the 40th birthday of Fresno Grizzlies marketing director Sam Hansen at Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co. The Art of the 40 Art Show will feature music, food, and a special Nickel Nickel Nine 40 oz. Craft Malt Liquor Release.
Sunday
Sunday, join Common Space Fresno for its One Year Anniversary Block Party at 10 a.m. There will be silent auction items, giveaways, local business vendors, food trucks, and fun activities for kids.
