Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some fun suggestions for events happening in Fresno and beyond.
Friday
It’s Vintage Days at Fresno State. April 20-22 will be a fun weekend featuring a craft faire, kid’s zone, student food and game booths, concerts, a free screening of Coco, and the first-ever Vintage Days car show. Admission and parking is free.
The Lockpicking Club will teach you to (responsibly) pick locks at 6 p.m. at Root Access Hackerspace.
Deja Blues will take the stage at Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co. at 7 p.m. This is a free, all ages event. El Premio Mayor will be hand with their amazing tacos.
See Cheech & Chong’s Up In Smoke at the Crest Theatre for $5 on this 4/20. The movie starts at 8 p.m. and yes, snacks are available.
Also at 8 p.m. Fresno State Opera Theatre Presents: The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan. You can catch a matinee of this performance Sunday at 3 p.m., as well.
Saturday
Start your Saturday morning with a Group Mindfulness Walk at 8:30 a.m. This walk will stroll west Fresno neighborhoods, rural and open fields, west Fresno shopping areas, and the beautiful Victoria West Park.
At 9 a.m., hit up Record Store Day 2018 at Tower District Records. This free event will include special Record Store Day new releases, contests, food trucks, bands/live music, T-shirt giveaway, and more.
At 10 a.m., visit the Fresno VA Car Show to see a bunch of cool and classic cars.
Community Healing Event hosted by New Thought Community will include a convergence of Reiki professionals at 10 a.m. Fifteen- to 20-minute Reiki sessions will be offered for a suggested donation of $30, though no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
Also at 10 a.m., the Voices From the Past Cemetery Tour will take place. Actors in period costumes will portray historic figures as they share lively vignettes about Fresno’s pioneers. Light refreshments and a graveside tour led by Fresno Historical Society staff to the final resting places will follow after the program.
At 11 a.m., head over to the Brass Unicorn for the Psychic Faire, where you’ll find Numerology, Runes, Angel Readings, Tarot, Pranic Healing, Massage, and more.
At 12 p.m., attend the Transgender Day of Visibility 2018: Trans Thriving at Alliant International University. There will be vendors, resources, and food in parking lot and entertainment, speakers, announcements, art silent auction, and raffles inside.
Also at noon is Pop Up Fresno! 2: A Mother’s Day Special, where there will be tons of vendors, food trucks, and live music for you at Engelmann Cellars.
At 6:30 p.m. at River Park is an Astronomy Viewing, where local astronomers will be on hand with their telescopes for you to use and to answer your questions
End your day listening to the Jacktones at Goldstein’s Mortuary and Delicatessen at 9 p.m.
Sunday
Take a short drive to Visalia’s Plaza Park for the Tulare County Renaissance Faire. This starts at 10 a.m.
Head over to Full Circle Brewing Co. at 12 p.m. where the Central California Area Derby is hosting a black and white scrimmage.
At 6 p.m. is Emergence: Poetry Workshop and Open Mic at Unitarian Universalist Church. This free lecture will be followed by a chance to work in small groups or individually to craft a poem followed by an open mic where you are welcome to share original poems or poetry that has a special meaning to you.
Also at 6 p.m., the Fresno Football Club takes on the San Antonio FC at Chukchansi Park. If you haven’t been to a match yet, now’s the time to go.
