November is a premier month for big time races in our region. Some of the highest profile, most talked-about races are set to take place and FresYes is breaking down all the details for you.
Fresno State Army ROTC Veterans 5K Run/Walk, Fresno State
When: Saturday, Nov. 4
Cost: $15, $10 for kids, active military and veterans, students and faculty (registrations ends 11/3)
The 3rd Annual Veterans 5K at Fresno State is put on by the Fresno State Army ROTC and Student Veterans Organization. The race begins at the Fresno State North Gym. With Veterans Day right around the corner, this is a great way to pay tribute to our military.
Two Cities Marathon
When: Sunday, Nov. 5
Cost: $125 full marathon, $105 half marathon, 5K run/walk $55 (registration ends 11/3)
This is the big one! The Two Cities Marathon is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The marathon course takes runners through Old Town Clovis and Woodward Park in Fresno. All finishers of the full and half marathon will receive an anniversary sweatshirt and medal. Completion of the full qualifies you to participate in the Boston Marathon.
San Joaquin River Trail 50K and 100K, Friant
When: Saturday, Nov. 18
Cost: 50K: $115 and 100K: $145
This intense trail run isn’t for beginners. The challenging course will take you through the best trails along Millerton Lake and the San Joaquin River.
Fresno Turkey Trot 2 mile or 5K
When: Thursday, Nov. 23
Cost: $30 (prices increase 11/1)
Eat guilt-free this Thanksgiving! This family fun event takes place at Woodward Park Thanksgiving morning. Funds raised benefit Fresno Community Food Bank. The race is the second in the Holiday Race Series.
Visalia Emergency Aid Council “Race Against Hunger”
When: Thursday, Nov. 23 (registration ends 11/19)
Cost: $30, $15 for kids
This South Valley race is your chance to get your heart rate up Thanksgiving morning while also raising funds for the Visalia Emergency Aid Food Pantry.
Kings United Way Turkey Trot 5k walk/run, Hanford
When: Thursday, Nov. 23
Cost: $22 (prices increase 11/2)
Thanksgiving is about giving back. This pet-friendly race benefits many local charities affiliated with Kings United Way, including Happy Trails Riding Academy, Kings SPCA, and Lemoore Police Activities League. The first 20 male and female racers to cross the finish line will receive a special medal.
