Happy belated Thanksgiving to you all. Hopefully your holiday was filled with great feasts and lots of family. But, I also hope you saved some room in your bellies for dessert. And I’m not talking about pies. This post is serving up a heaping helping of a yummy alternative to traditional holiday treats: donuts! Dy Hin and his wife, Lena, started Clovis Donuts four years ago and they continue to crank out fun, creative creations year after year. Often coming up with themed donuts to celebrate different holidays.
Hin’s family has a long history in the donut business, but when he decided to open his own shop, he wanted to do things his own way. So he took what he saw being done in big cities and brought it to Clovis. His first big success was the bacon maple bar, which is still a favorite among his customers. Since then there have been cookies and cream cronuts (that’s a croissant donut), s’mores donuts and donuts topped with all manner of fruity cereals, candies and sprinkles.
Word spread quickly — through customer recommendations and some good press — and business has been steady ever since.
Here, Hin talks about doing donuts differently, the added benefits of running a donut shop in the same neighborhood in which he lives, and the farthest someone has traveled just to taste one of Clovis Donuts’ unique treats.
