From my earliest days of shooting a bow and arrow I learned the importance of “the spot” or otherwise known as the bullseye to the non archery crowd.
You go to a tournament or just shooting around for fun and you will likely hear the question “how many spots did you get?”
Any time you go to pull back the string its the focus of your whole world, talking about technique and its the number one goal, even in my traditional non sight using world its “pick a spot”.
I’m sure all of this was a factor when long time friend and life long outdoors-man Steve Walters opened up his FresYes archery pro shop last year and named it The Spot Archery.
If you want a new bow, are needing new arrows, want to book an indoor archery birthday party…………its The Spot and its a short trip away in west Fresno just a few blocks off Shaw Ave.
Being a very traditional bowhunter and a minimalist at that I don’t need much most of the time when it comes to new gear but every time I do I call Steve or his right hand man Brian and even though I’m not shooting the newest fanciest compound bows they have what I need. Need some camo, broadheads or some other small item……..they are likely to have that too.
Recently I wanted a dozen new arrows before the summer season heats up and when most shops would have to order the components or maybe take a few days to glue it all up Brian had them in stock and ready to be picked up within the hour. To me that’s awesome service.
As we talked about the upcoming summer, the movement to stop the Sierra National Monument in our mountains and archery in general Steve invited me to his indoor hunters league held on Thursday nights at 7 pm for a super low $10 for 2 hours of shooting. A few clicks on Facebook and I found the shop page and some photo’s of a lot of our FresYes archers having fun together. Knowing how hot our summers are has me thinking I’ll be lining up and letting some arrows fly down the lane before I head into the high country this summer on one of my famous solo back country hunting trips.
If you love archery and the outdoors like I do you will find The Spot Archery has hit the FresYes target right in the bullseye.
