I don’t know about you, but I cannot believe that we are already in the middle of November. Thanksgiving is next week, and then Christmas, and then New Years, and then…….Ahhhh! It’s all too much for me! I was talking to a friend the other day, as we were both scheduling events on our calendars, and I was realizing that this time of year tends to be busy for many people. So, I decided (with the help from this same friend) to give y’all a list of upcoming holiday events to put on your calendar. I mean, I would be sad if I missed Zoo Lights or a local parade.
Of course this is not an all inclusive list, and I’m sure I’ve missed a whole lot of local events. However, these are some of my family’s favorites. Also, I’m not going into great detail about each event, as some of the other Fresyes writers might be covering one of these this season. I just wanted to get everyone ready for what’s to come, as I know planning during this time is essential! 🙂
So, without further adieu….Events to put on your calendar this holiday season.

This is a new event for the valley, where they showcase what the holidays are like around the world. I realize that it’s not in Fresno, but I’ve been seeing lots of commercials and signs for this, and it really seems like fun! There will be lots of lights, rides, and good food! My kids really want to go to this.
As I was putting this together, I was realizing that even though this is a small list, it’s still a pretty long one! Just another reason to love Fresno-there are so many events to celebrate!
What are you looking forward to most?
What events did I miss that you would you like to share?

It’s a Wonderful Life showing at the historic Warnors Center!
Originally released in 1946, this magical black-and-white Christmas fable is set in snowy, small-town America and is a bittersweet film that will hold the attention of the whole family. This masterpiece from Frank Capra still has a lot to say about community spirit, and is a film with much more to it than feel-good sentimentality. This classic fantasy drama stars James Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore. The main character, George Bailey, is a small-town businessman who believes he has been a failure. Contemplating suicide, George meets his guardian angel and discovers what life in his home town of Bedford Falls would have been like had he never lived.
The theatre will be decked out in Christmas decor, and we will be welcoming a special guest all the way from the North Pole! That’s right, Mr. Claus himself will be greeting guests is the lobby before the film, and more than happy to pose for photos with your little ones. We once again have the pleasure of hosting the Gold Note Chorus who will be singing four part barbershop holiday harmonies that evening, and special guest speaker, Don Eskender!
We always have a way that you can get into the film for free, and this month we’re doing a toy drive! Not your typical toy drive, because these toys are for the dogs at Fresno Humane Animal Services! Bring a new, unwrapped dog toy, and see the film for free. Let’s give these shelter pets “a wonderful life” this season.
The holidays can be a quite magical time, and why not celebrate them in a place as magical as the historic Warnors theatre? So grab a cup of hot chocolate at concessions, and cuddle up with your family in the theatre for this most classic of holiday films.
The doors to the theatre will open at 6:00pm with a holiday pipe organ concert from Dick Cencibaugh at 6:30pm.
Concessions will be available in the theatre at a much more affordable price than modern Cineplex’s, and those who are interested in having an adult beverage can join us in Franks Place before, during, and after the film.
Come early to enjoy the theatre’s unique atmosphere and the many photo opportunities!
All others are $5 and tickets are avaiable at http://www.warnors.org
