Who needs a day job when you can have your dream job? That’s exactly what Shane Davis says he has on the second floor of an Old Town Clovis antique store, where his massive collection of records for sale is kept. What’s cool about his shop, is that it almost feels like a well-kept secret…something a vinyl lover may stumble upon by chance and feel instantly like they’ve discovered something really special. A hidden gem, so to speak.
In reality, most people who buy vintage records know about Shane. Still, of the few shops in town that deal in these spinning relics, Shane’s shop feels the most humble: just a guy who loves records connecting with other people who like records surrounded by rows and rows of, what else, records?
Just how many records does Shane have? Check out the video below to find out.
The “Butcher” Cover:
If you’re wondering about that Beatles album Shane has for sale in his shop, “Yesterday and Today,” aka the “butcher” cover, below is what Shane’s copy looks like. After the album was recalled due to the image of John, Paul, George and Ringo strewn with decapitated baby dolls and raw meat being too disturbing for many to handle, a friendlier, more “Beatles-esque” image was pasted on top. If you haven’t seen the original, you can check it out on the internet with the click of mouse. But here’s a little backstory on it from PBS’s “Antiques Roadshow.” Or, you can just go see Shane and get the story from him in person!
