Check out Jennifer Hunter’s story that begins in Reedley and lands her here in the Fresno/Clovis area:
I originally moved to the Fresno/Clovis area in 1990, from Reedley. Coming from a small town, the change was very difficult, and to be honest, I didn’t think much of my new town for a very long time. That all changed several years ago when I went to my first Rogue Fest, and discovered the Tower District. There was so much to do and see! I had so much fun that I wanted to discover more. And I found that I could find fun things to do every single night if I wanted to. That was phase 1. Phase 2 came when one of my daughters got a job at Chukchansi Park. Since she doesn’t drive, I had to shuttle her to and from work frequently. And the more I was down there, the more history and gorgeous old architecture I saw and loved. And again, the more I saw, the more I wanted to discover. So I went on my own sightseeing tours, and learned the history behind the places I was seeing, and began to really fall for my adopted town. And the more I liked it, the more I wanted to tell other people about it. I want to tell people that there is a LOT to do in Fresno! I want to tell people not to be afraid to go downtown, day or night, because I’ve been down there at all hours, and I’ve NEVER, not once had anything bad happen to me. There is beauty and life and fun here. You just have to know where to find it.
Make sure to check out Rogue Festival yourself this coming February!
